Is it possible to purchase just RCI points?

Hello, I know that it is possible to purchase or rather RENT points at RCI.com for 2 cents/point up to I believe 30% of your yearly allotment. But is it possible to purchase just RCI points?

I presume someone might answer with just purchase the lowest points PER maintenance fee resort but hard to determine or search for that. And at what price would you look at? Is it possible to purchase something with 100,000 points for $1000 maintenance fee (1 cent/point) ? Is it possible to get something even lower 100,000 poitns for $500. Anywhere to search.

Thanks in advance. I have really appreciated the great answers from others on this board.

The secret is pretty much out, but there are still some resales of Grandview Las Vegas that pop up from time to time. IIRC, the 2 bedrooms (actually 2-1BR units together) net 122,000 for roughly $1K a year MF. This has driven up the resale prices but someone gets them. Just look. Watch eBay

I have a timeshare where I have the option of using the points for the length of my contract at any time. I have a total of 960,000 points available, and literally could have them all transferred to my RCI account immediately, if I chose. The annual maintenance is $521.48, but if all the points are used the contract ends and no further annual payments are needed. The annual fees are up to date, including 2017. Also, my annual fees stay on account and can be used to stay at the resort toward all inclusive fees, if I want to (or a new owner wanted to) go to the resort. I have $3,000+ in my acct.

So, I can essentially sell 960,000 RCI points right now, to be used this year, with the option of the buyer to extend the life of these points for $521/yr. Only caveat is only 60,000 per year can be used for RCI Points Partners. (airfare, car rental, etc.)

What would something like this be worth?

Thanks.

Agree on Grandview, but wanted to clarify that one needs to find peak weeks for the 122K points. Off-peak weeks confer fewer than the 122K points but the owner pays the same total maintenance fees, making those weeks higher fee per point....

Also, the 1 bedroom peak week at 61K points is the same fee per point as the 2 bedroom.

Something doesn't sound right to me. I'm not sure you can use 960K RCI points today without paying the future maintenance fees associated with those points. RCI gets intervals in exchange for the points, and order for them to get all those intervals, I would presume the maintenance fees would have to be paid on each interval.

I have one of these Contracts. It nets me 122,000 RCI points every year and my maintenance fees are $765.

If it sounds too good to be true it probably isn't! I think, and I could be wrong here, that some intergral part of this contract, and the transferring of points to RCI, has been left out.

Here's a 122,000 RCI Points , Grandview Las Vegas contract that sold on eBay for >$3000 but that's what I paid a couple of years ago. It's not a crazy amount of $$ for what you get.

That is what my contract with the resort says. I call them or email them and they transfer the points to my RCI account. As I said, there are limits on usage on Points Partners such as airfare.

What are points usually worth?

Thanks.

How long is your contract good for? What is the name of this resort? Your deal sounds fishy. How many points annually does that $521 get you? Now, I have 'borrowed' from upcoming years' RCI Points, and without exception, I've had to pre-pay the maintenance fees on those borrowed points.

As to your question of 'what are points worth?', the quick answer is to divide the number of points allocated annually by the MF. Usually it's a number between 1- and 2 cents. Some resorts- as in the example above are about 3/4 cent each. But then this is 'cost' not 'worth'. What they are 'worth' is entirely subjective.

In short, I don't think anyone here has seen a contract such as you describe.

This sounds like a vacation club that gives you access to RCI points - not a timeshare ownership.
