I've tried searching this (unsuccessfully) as well as sending an email to the special TUG II representative (surprisingly, no response in three days).

Are we required to pay a size upgrade fee every time we use eplus to make an exchange? I used a one bedroom SDO to trade into a two bedroom unit - paid the upgrade fee, paid for eplus. When I search for an instant exchange with that unit, any exchange into a different two bedroom unit generates an additional size upgrade fee. I'm pretty easy going, but this doesn't sit right with me. Ultimately, I will occupy only one unit. Once I have paid the non-refundable size upgrade, it seems unfair to pay it over an over again. Any advice?

You are not supposed to pay another upgrade fee with eplus, once you have paid it. I have two studios I traded into two bedrooms and paid the fees. My eplus trade, or whatever it's called, says 2 bedroom.

There was another person who was having similar problems and was able to get through to the TUG ii REP. It seems like eplus does not require the fees but regular retrades do. So if you run out of your eplus retrades and/or get a replacement week you are starting all over. The same would apply if you did not get eplus and are just paying to do a retrade.

Then I think what I saw someone mention over on the II Community won't work. They suggested confirming an exchange in to a larger unit and paying the upgrade fee. Then calling within the 24 hours to cancel. They would be refunded the exchange fee only, but since the upgrade fee isn't refunded, they thought that they could then put in a request in to properties with only 2BR units using what was initially a smaller deposit and they would be able to be confirmed in to the larger units without having to get a call from II to confirm and then pay the upgrade fee.

Thanks for information. I will reach out the the II rep again. I am hoping that it isn't supposed to work this way. I am definitely not using a retrade week. This is a new exchange week, and it makes sense that I would pay the upgrade fee once. I'll update this thread after I make contact with someone at II.

I had the same problem, two weeks ago. Being I paid as I didn't want to lose the week I dealt with it after the fact. II gave me a refund. I would email Mark our tug rep again. Not like him or his office not to respond quickly.

Thanks for that information. I'm glad that it isn't supposed to work that way! I agree that it is odd that Mark hasn't responded. I received the canned "we received your email" response, so I know that it was received. Maybe he's on vacation.

Coincidentally I had an email today from Mark. He had tried to call. We had a nice chat about this issue - it seems to be isolated to my exchange into Embarc Palm Desert. My other eplus weeks work just fine. Luckily since Panina had also reported it, it has already been escalated to IT. For now I can either call him directly to have him help me with the exchange or I will pay the upgrade fee then get the refund. Either way - great service. Mark is a gem and we are lucky to have this resource.
