I actually stopped by there briefly earlier this Spring, met and chatted briefly with the manager Jim -- a very pleasant and affable guy who also personally handles all deed transfers there. Did not stay there however; I was just passing through and was curious after visiting friends in nearby Lamoine.

Located very directly off of the southbound side of Route 1, right before U.S. 1 veers sharply right (west) toward the upper end of old downtown Ellsworth. I like Ellsworth, personally, can't really articulate why. Hannaford grocery store in the busy nearby plaza on the other side of Route 1. Reny's nearby too.

Several different types of buildings on site at AVR --- numerous multi level townhouses, several single level "Villas" (each one containing (2) 2BR "lockoffs"). There is another single stand alone building with 2 (or was it 3?) levels. The place is affiliated only with II (i.e., not with RCI) for exchange purposes.

Indoor pool, no outdoor pool. I seem to recall Jim saying that a fitness room is either planned or maybe even already under construction. The place does not really have much of a "resort" feel to it, truth be told, but it is certainly very well located in terms of being decent condo lodging with convenient accessibility to Acadia N.P. in one direction, Schoodic Peninsula and further "Downeast" in the other.

That's about all I know, dunno if any of it helps you. Loved the pizza at nearby Finelli's :). TUG member TonyG owns at AVR and he may see your post and chime in with more / better info and insights.

Helps a ton! This place fulfills several of our ownership "musts"....driving distance from home, independently owned, full kitchen, and SPACE for all of our children. I have only been north of Camden on Rt 1 a couple of times in the almost 25 years I've lived in Maine. We've exchanged into both Samoset and Trade Winds....but there's not much RCI stock north of that. Husband says that four weeks of timeshare are "enough." Foolish man.... Remains to be seen who will win. :)

I'm there right now. Addition to the clubhouse is done- tho I haven't seen it yet. Greg- the stand alone building (manor House) is 3 floors. Last night was one of the nights that A/C would have been nice in the townhouses(only section without A/C). Resales are available at the resort and the other usual places including here. Let me know if you have any questions - we will be here until Saturday the 17th.

If you are thinking about ownership, I highly recommend Harbor Ridge. It is on Mt. Desert Island, close to Bar Harbor and even has a little of an ocean view from the top floor. The staff are great and it is independently run and done very well. Maintenance fees are $540 this year for a spacious and well maintained 2 Bedroom unit. It does trade through II though, but is a good trader, perhaps excellent. Here is the website and Facebook Page:

Kwelty, Harbor Ridge is quite nice. We have stayed there many times. It is further down the road and doesn't have the bigger stores that Ellsworth has. The Fees are higher and the cost to buy a resale is higher. If I didn't lose my internet connection temporarily one day, I would own a week there too.

Stayed in a 1BR last September. Loved the location like theo said. Also agree that it's not a "resort" as such, the furnishings are simple and a bit dated and the sofabed is the old-style with a bar. But if you want to be near Acadia, it's a solid choice...

Chalee94- what week ? We were there in week 37.

Last stay at Harbor Ridge was in 2007, so I don't know what's changed since then. Neither Harbor Ridge or Acadia Village may be defined as a "resort" under some definitions, but there is not much difference in the amenities other than the long view of the upper Harbor from Harbor Ridge. The main reason I have not been there in 10 years was that we picked up a resale into Acadia Village and a few more since then. On this last trip, we never made it to the Island and that was a first. Harbor Ridge, other than the handicap unit has 3 level units and in 2007 and before - none had A/C. Acadia Village has the 3 story building with A/C and a unit at each level, the one level lock-offs now all have A/C, while the two level townhouses have no A/C. Personally I would stay at either resort and did until I bought at Acadia Village. With less than 80 units available within 25 miles of a National Park and the Ocean, both resorts have great trading power, tho Harbor Ridge had a better rating (or at least did have 5*).

Nah, I think we were in 59B but I never do the meet and greets. My parents and I did like Finelli's pizza. I was more of a fan of the lobster than they were - they did like Acadia and driving around the coast.

We stayed at Acadia Village last July and had a great time. My kids' only complaint was the weak wi-fi. I would definitely go back for another visit.
