We are going in two weeks to Kauai and I am interested in going to an update.
Are they still offering encore packages?
Are they offering the hybrid packages?
Any info is appreciated so I can prepare.

Encore was offered at Maui in February after declining to buy points.(Interestingly, it's a different sales group that sells the Encore trips as part of 'exit' interview).

Initial Encore offer didn't mention enrolling my pre-2010 week, but the week came up in a subsequent discussion with the Sales Director and he confirmed they would enroll it, for free, so I ended up buying the Maui Encore vs the cheaper CONUS version, since we were going back in two years.

Also had Marriott Resale desk call and confirm availability of hybrids.

Isn't encore always offered? I don't do presentations anymore but when I did I was always offered an encore. I never found it to be a good deal since I was usually there on an exchange for cheaper than the offer.

Anyone can call and get a hybrid package.

Thanks
Haven't been as active on the boards the last year and there have been so many changes.
Sometimes like a part time job to keep up. So glad to have the dedicated posters here.

We went last December at Ocean Pointe (Oceana Palms sales room). We were offered an encore package that wasn't to bad of an offer if we'd have needed an extra week. We were not offered a hybrid package but, we also had no interest in increasing our ownership. The push for us was to get us to the next level and the benefits that level would provide by purchasing only a few thousand points. There was also the "fear" that we would forever be locked out of benefits, opportunities and exchange possibilities if we didn't buy now.

We attended a presentation at MOW about two weeks ago. We were offered an encore package which included 6 nights at MOW (excluding the prime summer months), 75k MRPs, and a cruise certificate. Though I can't be certain, I think this package was offered maybe three years ago for about $1k less. When we declined this encore package, a second one was offered that excluded the cruise cert.

The DC offer to us was for 4-6k points at full price. When we readily declined that, a hybrid package was offered, with the statement they would soon stop offering these packages altogether. We turned that down too.

I attended 2 different presentations over the past year or so. The pitch was different each time, and my impression is that what pitch you get will be dependent on the salesperson.

Pitch #1 was to purchase a hybrid package. By hybrid, I mean buy some points but also buy a resale unit directly from Marriott to lower the cost per point of the overall package.

Pitch #2 was the more recent. This was a points-only offering at the full price per point.

We turned both pitches down. I'm cranky and just not willing at this point to both hand a lot of money over to Marriott and at the same time to significantly increase my annual fee burden. In weighing cost versus benefit, I just felt that the benefit for us wasn't great enough to justify the cost.

Yes, when we were turned over to the "closer," we were offered an encore package.

I'm not a masochist. That's enough of these presentations for us for now.

They used to be much more selective in offering an Encore package and tried to offer it only if they thought there was a reasonable chance you might buy upon returning. Now almost anyone who goes to a presentation is offered one.

Probably a good business decision to help offset the expense of MF's associated with unsold inventory.
