We had a cruise stop in Costa Rica that kind of whetted our curiosity to exchange there. I've more or less browsed the reviews here, and frankly none were even up to the standards of independent Mexican resorts. Does anyone have a recommendation for a nice TS- either coast, or interior where an older couple could get the flavor of the place? We don't need valet parking or concierge desks, but clean and well maintained enough to wander around barefoot without feet looking like you'd traipsed through a pig sty.

They trade through RCI with a one in four rule. Beautiful gated resort at Playas del Coco. We loved it there. It is not on the beach, and they charge to go to their private club on the beach. It was nice but I would have to say we enjoyed the pools just as much. They have had rooms available for extra vacations for reasonable price. There are a few threads here on TUG. I believe there are 8 or more buildings. Two of these are timeshare buildings the others are privately owned and can be found on VRBO or other rental places. It felt like there were many Canadians there at the pools who came down for a month or more and rented from owners.

As noted above, Breeze Private Residences would suit your needs. We were there in February 2017, and my review is posted.
