Grand Mayan Riviera march 2018

Hi,
We're trying to do two weeks at our spring break in March 2018.

Have barcelo maya second week and put in exchange requests for first week - which i was trying for westin lagunamar. royal caribbean and royal islander.

sfx has offered me grand mayan riviera? 1 bedroom. anyone have any opinions if i should hold out for my original request . the only reason i was thinking cancun vs rm for first week is a. we're doing rm second week and to change it up.

we're a family of 3 - 2 adults and 1 8 year old.

Grand Mayan is great but Grand Luxxe is better! See if SFX has it available. We are doing 1 week GL and 1 week Westin Luganamar in Feb 2018.

just left there 5 weeks ago. you will love it. We stayed in a 2 room suite. 1 king bed, 3 futons/queen beds/couches 2 in other room. not overly comfortable but for an 18 year old it will work just fine.

beach not great but food, service, and surroundings are amazing! let me know if you have specific questions. Tug reviews also provide some good insights.

I'm trying to choose between Lagunamar and GL Riviera Maya.

Never been to Luganamar before and so I cannot compare now. I could not get a second GL week at the time. I just got two GL weeks for 2019!

I would go to the Grand Luxxe. It is much nicer than Lagunamar. We have stayed at both. Lagunamar is in Cancun so the beach is much nicer there. The units are ok, but not luxurious as they are at the GL. The GL is between Puerto Morales and Playa del Carmen. The GL is on the Vidanta property and there are many excellent restaurants on the property, a multitude of pools and a fantastic gym. I am a gym rat and I was not impressed with the gyms at Lagunamar. You also have Cirque de Soliel at the GL.
