I just noticed this new tab on the II site for hotel exchanges under Exchanges. It did allow me to search even though I do not have the required membership. It was interesting. There are no requests allowed - you are confirmed immediately (if available). I tried quite a few cities and found numerous hotels of all levels. Depending on the unit you are using for exchange, the number of nights you are requesting and the quality of the hotel there may be an extra charge which is listed.

I was wondering if anyone has exchanged for a hotel and what they thought of the value received.

I never have personally. But IMHO, that just goes against one of the main selling points that the TS sales people try to tell you and sell you. Don't they try to sell people on the superiority of a TS over a hotel room? So why would somebody want to exchange a TS interval for a hotel stay? Why not just pay cash for your hotel room? Unlike what the sales people try to tell us, why pay TS MFs, II (or RCI) membership fees, and exchange fees for hotel stays. That would probably add up to more than just paying cash to the hotel.

P.s. That's almost as bad as trying to exchange an interval for a cruise.

Well, I agree with you but there are cities we like to travel to that do not have timeshares and thus, this would give us more flexibility with our timeshares. Marriott has opened a few "Pulse" resorts in major cities over the last few years that are basically hotel rooms (Washington DC, New York, South Beach, San Diego). We have stayed at several and really enjoyed them a lot.

I just wanted to say that I gave this a try, and I got some decent offers for one of my timeshares, a 1bdr. I wont say which one because I do not want II bombarded with 1 bdrs deposits where I own, which would lower the value of my own week. I did not feel I got good value for either studios or 2 bdrs or above. Others should give this a try. Attached find FAQs.
