Hi All,

1. Does Wyndham call from untraceable numbers?

2. Do they convey important things "only" by phone or are they legally (?) bound to convey it in writing like most other entities I do business with?

Background:
I don't answer landline calls as its mostly crap/fake/undesirable communication and I don't call back anyone I don't recognize as legit, even when they leave a number. I do not give out my cellphone number to shady entities [*]. My landline is registered with Wyndham along with my deed and so the number can be found through "public records", I suppose.

I received a call yesterday on my landline from "Jane" from "Wyndham corporate". She wanted me to call her back regarding an important issue related to my ownership. I don't like to talk to people, esp liars, and prefer communication in writing (preferably electronic). I checked the number (Orlando area code 407) left by Jane through reverse phone lookup via various sites and all sites reported it as a private/unlisted number about which no other information was available.

My ownership is paid for and I don't play any games with Wyn points to be on their blacklist for any reason. I pay my MFs regularly and expect no problems on that front either.

Everything I know tells me that this is a fake call from some non-Wyndham entity trying to lure me into something related to my TS. Even if I'm not lured, I'd hate to waste my time in a conversation based on alternate facts. So, I just wanted to double-check here in case someone has actually received an important call from Wyndham on an untraceable number. And, if not returning such a call could have undesirable consequences for me.

Thank you.

[*] - all adjectives are IMO :)

Seems to happen a lot. Here is a recent thread on it. Important Calls

From what I have heard in the past it is typically sales calls trying to get you to buy more.

While it could be Wyndham trying to sell you more, that's not the most dangerous call. It's typically a scam company trying to get you to "rent" reservations to them. After you pay an upfront fee.
Stay away! Or hang up when they call.

Thank you for the link to the other thread, nicemann. It seems to be the perfect explanation.

I find it pathetic that the attempted conning at presentations (where unsuspecting people willingly go and get unknowingly conned from time to time) is not considered enough by Sales, and now they're actually calling you at home to practice and refine their skills further.

wjappraise, I don't wish to even answer such phone calls to have to hang up. One is usually doing something else that gets interrupted when one takes phone calls. I found another message from "Jane" yesterday on my ans. machine when I went home from work. Thanks.

Did Jane in the message leave you the same number? You can call after 6PM (work time for her area code) listen to the voice mail message. However, Wyndham does have call out centers ... one is in Shawnee-on-the-River, Pa on the 2nd floor of their "preview" building ... TS sales by their phone bank. Resort is a mile or two down the road.

We get these calls all the time on our VM. Like you, have no desire to waste my time picking up the phone. If the VM is vague with only an name and some attempt an enticing you with a sense of urgency with NO specific information, then it's either a scam or some sales arm of Wyn wanting you to sign up for some promo they have going.

Probably 80% of them are scams however. I do a lot of reverse look-ups with my paid subscription that goes deeper than the free online ones. Almost always it tells me it either cannot be identified or is an "unknown" landline. On the rare occasion I get a real name, then it's another quick search which usually leads me to a "post a complaint" site where others have already done the same.

Don't pick up the call and just delete the VM. Not worth your time. If it's important to your ownership, Wyn will put it in writing via snail mail.

If they KEEP calling (which sometimes they do), then I actually answer the call on speaker then immediately put it on MUTE and walk away from the phone. It wastes the callers time and eventually it will frustrate them and they will stop calling. It also prevents them from leaving a VM.
