Have owened for quite some time, but have not been there in few years. Have there been any major changes how to reserve the palapas? Know the last time we were there, people were lineing up at 4 a.m. for the free ones.

Just received notification for our upcoming trip January 26-February 10.... First come, first serve inventory (even numbered) $10 per day and you can begin making these at 7:a.m.
Odd Numbered Palapas rows 3-6, $25 per day, Odd numbered Palapas, Rows 1 and 2, $30 per day. Begin making at 10 a.m.

We havened been here in a few years, but they used to have a small number of free ones that you could get at 7 a.m., but a lot of people began lineing up much earlier. Based on this write up, it appears, that's gone. Reading it, it seems that maybe after row 6, they are free, but I'm not even sure they go back much further.

Interesting...when did the Ocean Club change the rules? This represents a marked increase in the reserved fee, doesn't it (I thought the OC and SC fees had been the same, but could be mistaken)? And interesting that they are no longer free to non-owners. I wonder if this policy increases availability, albeit at a cost.

Availability remains the same. There was a $10 increase across the board a few years ago, and the owners get a $10 rebate to there bill. There was another $5 increase, but don't remember when.

I've always wondered if charges would affect availability at the SC. I didn't realize they already instituted some sort of priority system for owners at the OC, at least as far as fees are concerned.

Does the discount only apply to Ocean Club owners or all MVC owners?
