Wife and I are headed there 9/22 to 29.....Marriott told me there would be construction during that time. (pool resurfacing)..We are "beach lovers"; so I figured: What the Heck....Have U been there lately? pros and cons....Thx

FYI....We were there quite a few years ago..

I was just there in April. What would you like to know? The pool that will be resurfaced during that time is the Cobia pool (many call this the "adult" pool although it is not really restricted to adults only except during aqua aerobics in the morning I think) which is at the end of the main property. The big main pool was done last year so that will be open as well as the pool at the Kingfish (the stand alone building on the inlet).

jjluhman, Just wondering if resort was as nice I remembered and if the construction would be a bummer?...Have no idea which building we're gonna be in.. We have confirmation for 2-bdrm. (exchange w/ interval)...I think we stayed at Kingfish last time...

The resort is always in top condition. Because Marriott does some sort of refurbish every five years and because there are five buildings, there's always a construction warning as something is being refurbished, resurfaced or maintained.

Here's a link to our photo album from this past December. We own a 3 bedroom ocean front, so the unit layout is a little different than the 2 bedroom lockout units. https://dougp26364.smugmug.com/Travel/TImeshare/Marriotts-Ocean-Pointe-1/

If your confirmed into the Kingfish Bldg. be sure to ask for an upper floor. We were there last year and had a first floor unit. It was awful. Outside of the room were large bushes and trees blocking the view completely. Directly under us we could see cars pulling in and out of the parking garage. We did not like it there and would not go back if we had to stay in Kingfish Bldg. Otherwise the other Bldgs. looked great and all activities were over there. The pools were nicer too.

OMG, those pics look awesome! We're going there at the end of next week, on June 30th. We have a guest room we rented from an owner, have no idea what building we'll be in, but I requested the Sailfish just a few days ago, above 4th floor. How likely are we to get that? Of course, we've never been here.

If you're in Sailfish, Dolphin or Kingfish the construction shouldn't impact you at all.

If you are beach people any of those buildings will be quickest access to the beach. The beach vendor does a very good job at setting up chairs with umbrellas.

We've been going there since 2000. The more options you give for room location the better your chances you'll get something you want. High floors have nice views but 2nd or 3rd floor is so convenient to use the stairs and not have to wait for elevator.

We have friends who always ask for Kingfish. They love the high rooms on north building. They also like the feel of a small, separate resort. No, it doesn't have all the amenities. I'm still uncommitted to any building. Stay in cobia in March and it had its benefits. Dolphin in May and that was good too.

My guess is nearly everyone requests a high floor, so it will come down to pecking order as to where you're placed.
