New York City's Metropolitan Museum Considers Ticket Fees After Decades of Free Admission
From Fox News/ Museum Exhibits/ Travel/ foxnews.com

"After decades of free admissions for both tourists and locals, the Metropolitan Museum of New York and the city government are considering charging admission for the first time in the museum's nearly 125-year history.

On Wednesday, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio endorsed the idea of having the Met charge admission for visitors from outside of New York City, reports The New York Times...."

I love the Met. I always check to see what special exhibits are available when I visit New York. An entrance fee would not deter me from going.

I feel slightly different about that. With two small children, my average museum visit is very short. They're well behaved, but it would be unreasonable for me to take them to look at art for too long.

That being said, the last time I was there the signage around their recommended donation was pretty oblique on free being one of the choices, although I understand that has changed slightly after they were sued.
