Tom, thanks for sharing this article.

We are at Marriott Ko Olina this week and I also saw the article in the hard copy version. Interesting article, but the hard copy version also provided a room count for the various resorts. It is as follows:

- Four Seasons: 371 rooms
- Aulani: 828 rooms
- Ko Olina Beach Villas: 247 rooms
- Marriott Ko Olina Beach Club: 546 rooms
- Atlantis Hotels and Resorts: 1,324 rooms

Total rooms: 3,316 (which is just over 10% of the visitor inventory in Waikiki).

Atlantis Ko Olina is scheduled to break ground next month. They have the property fenced off and are demolishing the two chapels. If fact, the chapel closest to the Ko Olina Beach Villas has been demolished and they are currently breaking up the foundation/pad. In speaking with an employee of Ko Olina, who we ran into this afternoon, they also plan to demolish the chapel closer to Aulani. It is also fenced off. My DW and I are disappointed, as both of the chapels added a nice touch to the area. So, the only current chapel that will remain is the one on Cove 4, closest to the harbor. In our humble opinion, that is the least beautiful of the chapels. The Four Seasons has a chapel on the west side of their hotel, and the KO employee believes the Atlantis plans to build a chapel some where in the new resort.

It will be interesting to see how the development comes along.

Best regards.

Mike

Mike, you know that area well. I haven't been out there in a couple years. But I do know that the wedding chapels are big business out there. My next door neighbor's son got married out there as well as the granddaughter of the people that live across the street and all they could talk about was how great it is. I am sure they will build another wedding chapel that is nicer and of course more expensive. The future looks bright for that area. I hope you have a nice vacation out there.

Atlantis will have 1,300 plus rooms? I can't imagine how crowded the lagoons will get. Plus traffic?

The area is very large and I can't understand the need to charge as much as Waikiki for parking. We lie the area for a day visit but that is about all as it is a great crash site for relaxing but we like to be close to our choice of activities and restaurants.
