I had been looking for a DVC rental (and others). Someone contacted me with a 2BR at Boardwalk for 7-nights this Summer for $1,500 (Magic Season). The "person" insisted it was not an RCI and they are the DVC owner. It would take 301 or 350 points for this rental. Even at 301 points, this is $5/pt. I know you can get some good deals now and then for maybe $9/pt. I have never seen $5/pt, especially when David's will pay $10/pt.

$5 is really low. I would pass, IMHO. $8 for expiring points is about the lowest I have seen. But, $1500 for RCI would have $200 trade fee and $195 DVC fee, so the person is only clearing $900, minus their expenses of whatever they traded with. Could just be a scam, not even a RCI trade.

Sounds like just a scam and not an exchange or a rental. I've read of this happening several times. Someone will "rent" out a bunch of weeks in a short period of time and then they disappear. Sometimes, they do book the resort and then cancel it later. I wouldn't even respond to someone who offered me a deal like that. That's less than half of what anyone else is charging and less than the MFs. BTW, David's rental service is paying owners more than $10/point now. Rental rates have skyrocketed.

Thank you for verifying exactly what I had suspected all the time when I received the email.

Sounds too good to be true ------- - I would not chance it. This is not even a last minute rental - (a few weeks before reservation). I would go with David. Worth paying a few extra $$ if needed to. Good luck!

I have been getting $13 or $14 per point from the rental service that I use. I have seen $9 a point for very short term rentals usually of SSR that people are just trying to get something for before expiration. But never seen lower for a rental like you are quoting.

I get $16 per point for Disney's Beach Club Villas and $14-15 per point for Disney's Old Key West
