Is there any advantage in a Sands owner renting from another Sands owner, versus a R Islander owner renting from a Sands owner...especially with regard to A1 (do not want A1).

Does anyone have a photo of view from upper balcony on Bldg G? Is sun on that balcony a lot of the day (seniors and don't want a lot of sun on balcony).

We usually do not go to Cancun for wk 14 because of spring break (go 15, 16 and 17 wks). Is there a big difference wk 14. At the RI we have found there are not very many spring breakers because of Royal's strict rules.

If you rent from a Sands owner you do not have to do AI. I have photos from building F-- 6th floor. Send me a PM with your email and I will send them to you. Spring break can be anytime from March 1- April 30 depending on where you live. We own weeks 14 and 15 at the Sands. I was a high school assistant principal for 43 years. My spring break could have been anytime from week 10-week 16. We used to own at the RC and RI. I have seen spring breakers at all 3 resorts. The management keeps them in check.

The mgmt at the Sands and the other Royals are a lot better at keeping the spring break revelers in check than a lot of the other resorts. Ask me why I know..

Because I've owned at least 7-8 contracts at the Omni and have stayed at the Sands.
I see, only 3 years since, this post. I figured it was something like that. Now that the Sands is AI, we find that it is a bit more rowdy during week10/11 than it used to be

I haven't been on the board much in many years, byeloe. I need to cure that, because this is a great forum. A very diverse, respectful group. I can tell you that not all BBSs are anything like that.
Sorry to hear that has become the case at the Sands, byeloe. I thought the Sands was one of the nicer resorts I've stayed at, and I've stayed at a bunch.
Sounds to me like management are just doing what administrators and leaders are doing in other parts of our society, lacking the desire or stones to quell the rabble.

Yes this is a great forum. Glad you are back on. We have been staying more at Westin Lagunamar in recent years, although we still love the Royals

We own at the Royal Sands weeks 14/15, which 6 out of every 10 years encompasses the Spring Break for schools in the Northeast. I was a high school principal so I needed my weeks then. I can tell you that the AI has brought some issues they still keep good control over spring breakers. Especially that you have to be 25 years old to check in!

byeloe, haven't stayed at the Westin. Glad you're enjoying your time there.

ilene13, that's good news about the Sands. I thought the Sands was a fine resort when we were there. I traded my Casa Del Mar, Aruba ocean view Presidential Suite for it. Another tug member, IIRC.
