Just saw this article. Wonder if there will be any tie in with MVC. Seems like it would be a natural combination. I'd be interested if they had a points requirement that was reasonable compared to the existing Explorer offerings.

VEry interesting story but as the article pointed out they have lots and lots of competition in this area. THey will have to offer a very special product to really set themselves apart.

A reasonable / acceptable deal with DC or just possibly even MR points might be sufficient, although I suspect this might be unlikely.

There are already a number of 'yacht like' boutique cruise ships transiting the smaller ports of the Med, Carib., So. Pacific, etc. This offering will just increase the number of available cabins. This might reduce fares a little, but (imo) if you think your current MF will translate to weeks on one of these, I have a bridge I'd like to interest you in.

This is not a cruise ship it is a crusing yacht ship with only 298 passengers and only 149 luxury suites.

There are no staterooms, inside or ocean view cabins; there are only "luxury suites."

I am only guessing that the average cost per person / per day suite costs is $2,000.00 . This is your Silversea, Crystal, Regent, Azmara, Seaborne, Oceania, Windstar, Seadream Yacht Club cruise lines.

I would think higher. Disney concierge suite level pricing.

I don't think there will be overlap between MVC and this product. From early (2011) conversations with Dir of Cust Advocacy, they didn't want to blend Ritz DC with MVC because Ritz consumers didn't want to affiliate with traditional timeshare owners. But with the economy so bad and so much unsold (and MF-delinquent) property, it became a necessary solution for Marriott Corporate to include Ritz DC with MVC.

So, I don't think the brand new yacht will be accessible to us (unless the economy re-tanks, which is a different problem)...but it's nice to get a glimpse of this new Ritz product!

Best,

Greg
