Has anyone here successfully synched Thunderbird emails on multiple Macs when not using iCloud.net (we use comcast.net). Is it possible to use iCloud for this? If not iCloud, would Dropbox work? I know about Thunderbird's profile file and where & how to find it, but I'm reluctant to try moving it to the iCloud or Dropbox without knowing this won't screw things up.

Looks to me that you're going about this the wrong way. Just have each of your TBird installations access the same email accounts.

If they are IMAP accounts (far best option for multiple computer access), the messages are kept on the server and can be accessed from any of the accounts.

If they are POP accounts, this protocol is not really designed for multiple computer access, but there are some hoops you can jump through to make it work. Here's an old post of mine on this on the mozillazine.com forum: http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?t=301133

I have been doing what you suggest for years. The problems I have with it are (1) When I move emails to the trash on one computer, they do not get moved to trash on the other, and (2) The folders I store saved emails in are completely different on my two computers...so that messages stored in a folder on one are not available on the other.

Do you see a way around this? Or should I simply be using comcast.net as my email reader?

POP or IMAP account?
Agree. Imap should sync the folders across all computers accessing the same IMAP email account. Add a folder to one, it will do on all the others, etc.

Well, I am using imap connections to comcast.net on all my computers. Nothing is getting synchronized within Thunderbird. Apple's Mail programs do synchronize on my Macs, but I prefer Thunderbird...except for my inability to synch folders.
