We leave this Friday, have a few questions

Has anyone returned from Grand Mayan since the swine flu crisis? If so can you tell me what you experienced at the Mayan complex or Puerto Vallarta in general?

A couple of years ago we went to a restaurant that I think was close to the grand mayan that had alot of turtles right outside the restaurant? Anyone familar with this restaurant?

We will probably want to rent a car for a day or two, Anyone know of a good auto rental location? We rented one last time at the hotel but the cost was pretty high, anyone know of a good location in NV or Puerto Vallarta?

If staying at Grand Mayan, where is the best location to change dollars to pesos?

I called Grand Mayan and asked about the free transportation from airport to resort and advised it is only for members, just wondering if that is correct or maybe I got someone at the hotel that did not know the policy. has anyone traded into the Grand Mayan in last couple of months and used the free transporation to the resort?

Thanks,

Mike

The restaurant is La Laguna. My relatives have gone there several times and love it, and we're leaving for the Grand Mayan on Sunday and plan to try it for the first time. My aunt and uncle just returned from their trip and had a great time. It was a bit slower than usual, but this is a slow time of year anyway. Have a great trip!

Thanks for the name of the restaurant, In regards to the transportation, I had sent two emails about 10-14 days ago to the concierge email address and just asked if they had free transportation to the resort, however I never got a reply. Today I sent an email and gave them the specifics of the flight and the number of people and received a quick reply confirming they have made arrangements for the transportation to the resort with a company called Mitchell. Since there are six of us that should save us at least $30

You will have a great time. The resort is awesome and is wonderful for kids. I think that they have started providing complimentary transportation to the resort for exchangers also. This was a benefit for owners only for a few years.

They have a car rental desk in the concierge area. We have never used it as we tend to use taxi and bus transportation when in Mexico.

I agree, La Laguna is nearby and has great seafood. There are two ATM's on the ground floor of the NV Grand Mayan. If both are out of cash (happens a lot) there is also one in the Mayan Palace next door. We also have never rented a car. The buses go everywhere and are half the fun.
