I just booked a minivan for our Maui trip on Priceline :) ! I'm a total Priceline newbie, so I was nervous  !

The price was $234.81 for the week with Alamo, versus $286.36 on Hotwire, versus $369.52 with Hertz. My other option was my already reserved full-sized Alamo vehicle for $195.24.

So should I be able to look up my reservation on Alamo's site before I cancel my existing reservation?!

I don't think you will find the Priceline Reservation on Alamo's site. I just print out the Priceline Confirmation and take it with me. I have never had a problem. When you pick up your mini Alamo will require Credit Card imprint. Don't be alarmed. They want it in case you stay extra, buy gas up front, etc. I just say "this is prepaid, right". They say "yes" and we move on. Never had a hitch with Priceline reservation.

The only thing you should be aware of is, if you're planning on a second driver, there will most likely be additional charges that were not covered in your Priceline bid. This happened to us when using Priceline and getting a car through Alamo on the Big Island.

Thanks for the warning, it's good to know. I usually always drive on Maui, so a second driver isn't necessary for this trip. Woohoo, I can't wait!

Hi Denise. Before you go, I recommend that you check with your insurance agent to determine if your auto policy covers you when you drive another vehicle, including a rental. It is my understanding that a number of well known auto insurance plans do not. Hopefully, you may be already covered for both the "second driver" and accident insurance option. Have a great trip!
