Let me see if I can post this 3.1 mb file. Sure wish I had this before I made my reservation and checked in.

Not bad! Your room number is building, floor, room. So, 6153 does not have a good view. (No, I did not get stuck there!) Next time I want 8608!

There are quite a few posts and discussions about room allocation at WKORV/N.

Unless you make a home resort booking (12-8 months out), you have no guarantee of a specific view, etc. During that period, you will only get your deeded view.

After that, using SO's, you are subject to the priority list for room allocation, etc.

Yes, and being elite, I could have gotten pretty much whatever I wanted, but didn't clearly know what to ask for. The room assignments were made a day or two before I got there, and I got just what I asked for. Unfortunately, I got some bum info about what to ask for. Building 6 ain't all great ocean views! I stayed at the Maui Westin Hotel before arriving here, and the concierge hooked me up with exactly what I was told to ask for. If I had this, I would have known better.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but this is incorrect - being Elite will not allow you to get whatever you wanted. Essentially you are saying that even if you didn't own OF - it was yours (like 8606) because you are Elite and had a hook-up with the concierge at the Westin Maui hotel? (based on this perception - TS sales people must love you). You should review the thread about location assignments, and Ultra Premium, Ultra, Fixed, and Multi-week WKORV/N owners, Single-week owners, etc.

Not sure where you got this bum info about location - the WKORV/N map has been on the Owner resource stickie for a while. Beside - IMO - I would choose 2529 or 2629 - if I had my choice - and for those who have had these locations - would likely agree.

Just so you know - the maps are posted in Owner Resources, at the top of the forum....

I don't know who recommended building 6 - building 6 is ALL island view.

David, ... I know you think otherwise, but ...

I still believe that for home resort reservations (i.e. 12-8 months) Elite status means nothing at WKORV. The timestamp means everything for available units among owners of resort weeks in determining priority. And, timestamp order for Ultra and Ultra Premium units come first and are assigned by the date the unit became Ultra or Ultra Premium.

However, once the home resort period expires, no person making a reservation at WKORV is guaranteed/entitled to any particular view, much less the view they bought, and the timestamp no longer is the exclusive determiner of what room location someone is assigned.

The non-home resort reservation pecking order does take into account SVN Elite status (coming after multiple WKORV owners and then single WKORV owners). However, most reservations at WKORV in prime weeks are home resort reservations timely made by WKORV owners and the available pool of units for non-home resort reservations (made at 8 months or less) is comparatively quite a bit smaller.

And, nobody expects much of anything anyway if the reservation is made less than 8 months from arrival. But, remember that home resort reservations may be dropped without a financial penalty up to 90 days from arrival. So, some pretty nice units might show up as available for assignment when the assignment process begins a few days before an arrival date. Salty

Im not an elite or have home resort advantage however I am thankful for the map by the OP and Denise as it helps newcomers navigate the resort ahead of time. Thanks!:D

DeniseM, ... The sticky "Starwood Owner Resources" has long had a unit map of WKORV and a separate unit map of WKORV-N. Each map also has view categories linked for the various unit numbers.

The map posted today combines both portions of the resort in one map with the unit numbers designated.

Maybe the map posted today could also be posted or linked to the sticky since it gives a better perspective of the entire resort? It would still need the links to the room views, but then the information for the entire resort could be found in one place. Salty.

I agree - this is a good map, should be in the sticky.

What is Salty?

I was still trying to decipher eom, which I thought was End of Message (which I thought was redundant, becuz nothing else to read).

Salutations and love to you?

Stay away lasting til yearend?

Stop and listen to yourself?

Such a lovely time yelling?

So a lion travelled yonder?

Still a lot to yield?

?????????????

Thx,

Greg

This may seem like a silly/obvious question but...

Are all the OF units 2bd? It seems like I always see OF referenced with 2bd.
Or are there 1bd OF units?

GregT, ... "What is Salty?"

David (of DavidandRobin fame; Robin is definitely David's "better half") started referring to me earlier this month as having a "spicy" posting style.

DeniseM (the Moderator with a sometimes sharp posting style herself) saw David's repeated use of "spicy" in reference to me, liked the handle and (almost immediately and to have it all to herself) made it a part of the tag line for her posts (The Spicy TUG Moderator).

Now she's Spicy. And I'm Salty. ;) Salty

They are 2 bd. Lock-offs - studio + 1 bdm.

I'm now confused. In WKORV, OF is 30/31. So OFD is 27/29 (and the corresponding other side)? The 29 is the real "D"? 27 seems like OV.

Jarta/Salty,

Thank you for the clarification -- yes, lots of sugar and spice on this board (but I'm definitely not calling you sugar). ;)

Best,

Greg

Greg, ... I like Spicy much better than The Grinch - another self-appointed nickname from December of 2009. Never said I was Sugar lol!. Salty

Dearest Salty - please stop incorrectly misrepresenting what I posted and/or twisting my words. I never said Elites had priority and they over-ruled the timestamp - seriously I do not know where you come up with this crap. (for example see post 5) Plus you are not even stating this in the thread that was discussing this topic - taking it even further out of context.

Also, I never asserted that I know exactly how the location determinator assigns the villas - I do know that I never even called to reserve the villa I ended up in 3529 (that you saw) - that apparently shows that there is more going on than pure timestamp and takes advantage of location priority decisions as made aware to me by W5* that I have indirectly alluded to - when I did call to reserve the studio 1st (which I subsequently cancelled) - I got the last OFD studio available. The rest I am sure you can figure out yourself.

What I wrote - if I interpret what you are claiming I said - was directly from the WKORV OM during my discussion with FredM about setting location priorities when someone else was claiming some type of unfairness in their location on the 2nd floor. It states in the OM that location priority takes into account different aspects (off the top of my head because I am on my iPad and the OM is on my computer) as such Ultra Prem, Ultra, Fixed... (obviously) and then other considerations like multi-week vs single-week, lock off split vs non - multiple VOIs reserved - EY vs EOY - are accounted for - these are in the OMs - now maybe if you owned WKORV you would have the OM to read this for yourself - I would be happy to forward to you if I wish - but if you going to incorrectly state something attributed to me - or twist my meaning - I will call you on it.

The rest I did not bother reading... As I don't know what the fk you are trying to get at. eom

The studio side of the OFD is on the side of the building - 1st lanai on the side of the buiding in the photos. The next villa going down the side of the buildings is a 1bd standalone and then the 2bd Prems LOs start. The studio for the OFC is true OF, but the view from the OFD studio is non-obstructed although not true OF.

My point before is that - given a choice - would choose 2529 or 2629 (1Bd side of the OFD in B2 that looks south over the pool - before another 1Bd villa including any in WKORV/N

I agree you never said that.

You responded to SeaSix in your last post before my post:

"Essentially you are saying that even if you didn't own OF - it was yours (like 8606) because you are Elite"

What I posted was what I believe is the case. That the timestamp rules for WKORV owner home resort reservations (12-8 months).

However, when it comes to non-home resort reservations (8 months or less, like SeaSix's), multiple WKORV owners are assigned first to the leftover WKORV availability, single WKORV owners next, and then Starwood Elites. I did not post it then, but I believe next are Starwood non-Elite traders, SPG traders (renting non-Starwood owned units) and II traders. At the top of the post, as a preface, I said:

"I know you think otherwise, but ... "

It's OK to disagree with me. I am entitled to post what I think. So are you.

But, how can acknowledging that "you think otherwise" about what I put in a post possibly be called "twisting your words?" I think you may need some new specs. Salty

This back and forth bickering is reaching the point where it's about to get this thread closed. Drop it NOW. Take it to PM if you want to continue to harangue each other.

Add map to stickies please

before this thread gets closed, I would like to add my vote to add this complete map to resources in the stickies.

A link to the map has been added to the Starwood Owner Resources sticky, under the Resort Maps sub-heading. THANKS!
