Snorkeling in Lagoon at Harborside Atlantis

Going to Starwood's Harborside Resort in May and wondered if any of you TUGers have snorkeled in the Lagoon at Atlantis. I was there a couple of years ago. I remember there were paddle boats and canoes, but it was cold. I took a scuba introductory course that offered the opportunity to try the Lagoon, but too cold. Was the snorkeling as neat as all the various fish tanks?

not really

Its been a while now but my recollection is that the 'lagoon' was not so much about snorkeling as it was a quieter place to escape the chaos occuring by the pools. I enjoyed staying at the Harbourside as much as possible and avoiding the monstrosity that is Atlantis - Just MHO...

Cheers,
LAR

I was there July 2006. There are very few fish in the lagoon, no coral etc. I snorkeled around most of the perimeter one day. Most of the fish are located by the walking bridge that takes you to the beach, but even there it is not great. I did see one barracuda near the bridge.
I also snorkeled in the ocean at the far East end of Cabbage beach, near the Golf Course, I think the area is actually called snorkel cove. It was pretty good there, even close to shore. You can take the shuttle to Ocean Club, and then walk East on the beach until you see a rock wall that goes out into the ocean, snorkel along the wall.
