Our Visit to Colonial Williamsburg
We purchased our Colonial Williamsburg Freedom Pass at the ticket office near The Capital Building earlier this week. Cost $59.00 p/p for one year.
It includes Daily admission to the Colonial Williamsburg Historic Area Exhibitions and The Revolutionary City, a Colonial Williamsburg adventure!
There is Free Parking at the Visitor Center with
Complimentary Historic Area shuttle bus service.
The buses were rode on had huge windows and an upper and lower level.
The Red Line takes you from the Visitors Center to the Governors Palace bus stop and back to the Visitors Center and the Blue Line takes you on a complete loop around the exterior of the Historic Area Colonial Williamsburg. You can get on and off at different bus stops as many times as you like.
As professional bus drivers, we found the Colonial Williamsburg Transportation to be efficient this time of year. During our trip back to the Visitors Center today, it was standing room only.
The first day we went, we parked near Merchants Square and
walked along Duke of Gloucester Street and took some photos.
Tuesday: We parked at Bassett Hall and walked over to the Ticket Building near The Capital and purchased our Colonial Williamsburg Freedom Passes.
Then we toured Bassett Hall.
A simple two-story 18th-century white frame farmhouse nestled on 585 acres of lawn, garden, and woodlands, Bassett Hall once was the Williamsburg home of John D. Rockefeller Jr. and his wife Abby Aldrich Rockefeller.
Wednesday: We parked at the Visitors Center and rode on the Red Line Bus to the Governors Palace bus stop and walked to the Governors Palace for the Four O`Clock Tour. Bill was amazed at all the guns hanging on the walls.
Thursday: We parked at the Visitors Center again this time we went inside to see the movie "The Story of a Patriot" after the movie we rode the Red Line Bus to the Governors Palace bus stop and connected to the Blue Line Bus.
We rode this bus completely around the Historic Area and back to the GP bus stop and then we walked over the GP to see the beautiful grounds & gardens.
