Thanks

Yes, it is applicable with the UK Marriott Rewards MasterCard - Owner Services confirmed this for me.
I have recently used the P33 code (Premier Plus Owner 45% Discount when you pay with the Marriott Credit Card) at Playa Andaluza

Barry, is Chase also the vendor for the UK MasterCard? I'd like to update the FAQ to include this info. Thanks!

Also, would anyone like to confirm any other cards available to non-US owners, and if the credit card 10% component of the discount is available with them? Thanks!

Hi Susan
No, Chase is not the provider in the UK.
Here it is Creation, a company I had not even heard of before this link up
http://www.creation.co.uk/news/2012/03/22/New-MasterCard-launched-with-improved-benefits
They claim to be "a leading financial power behind many of the UK’s affinity credit cards, consumer finance and loyalty schemes"
The card issuer is Sygma Bank, another company I had never heard of!

I hope this answers your question?

With the advent of the new membership levels at month's end, will the codes remain the same and which levels will they apply to?

I must have been under a rock. What new membership levels?

It's all over town here at tug and at every member services at the resorts posted for your viewing pleasure. :D

I was wondering the same. I would expect the codes to stay the same since the percentage discounts did not change. Here is my stab at it how the new levels will match up with the codes.

Current Levels & Codes
Standard Members - 25% / 35% : MOD
Premier Members - 30% / 40% : Y85 / Y83
Premier Plus Members - 35% / 45% : P34 / P33

New Levels & Codes
Owner - 25% / 35% : MOD
Select - 25% / 35% : MOD
Executive - 30% / 40% : Y85 / Y83
Presidential - 35% / 45% : P34 / P33
Chairman's Club - 35% / 45% : P34 / P33

Ahhh. Looks like it is for "points" owners, I probably just overlooked it, as I am a weeks owner. Am I correct? Is there nothing for their best weeks customers?

Points owners AND enrolled weeks owners too.

I am feeling pretty stupid here. Everything I have read is talking about points, not owned weeks.

How do I know what level I am at? i have received nothing from Marriott, nor have I seen anything on my Marriott Profile??

Did you enroll your weeks? If so you can look on the Marriott Vacation Club website to see how many points are allocated for each of your weeks. Find the sum and you can see what level you are at.

No, I am not enrolled. That is the missing link. I guess it is all about selling more and more points.

Many of us have enrolled our weeks and benefit from the DC programme, including these discount codes, but have absolutely no intention of ever buying points - it is not necessary.

Well yes it does seem like a new scheme to market points to those who want to jump to a new level.

Barry's right though. We have enrolled our weeks with no intention of buying points. The system has given us much more flexibility in using our weeks. When we mentally divided the enrollment fee by the number of weeks we owned it came to $285 per week. It was a no brainer. We would have easily paid that extra when we bought the weeks to have more flexibility.

Did you not enroll because your weeks are post 2010 resale?

Thanks Barry, that's good to know as am planning paying for 3 days at Marbella next year. Traded Playa for DC points and borrowed 2017 SurfWatch - we're heading back to Hilton Head Island early May 2016, trying Grande Ocean for a change!

Belated thanks for all the info with St Kitts - we had a fabulous time. My husband said to thank you for the link to live internet British TV - we watched a couple of live BBC 1 programmes when it rained one day! Surreal when in the Carribean.

We were second floor Canada building 1025 villa. If turned head to right when on balcony could see the sea. Do you know if this is classed as garden or seaview?

Thanks

I am pleased to be of help and glad you enjoyed your trip.
We were only just discussing at lunchtime today whether to plan a return to St Kitts in 2016 - so many choices!
It will be interesting to catch up with progress on developments there such as Christophe Harbour and try the new bar/restaurants such as Salt Plage.
As for Canada House, we stayed in that building on our first visit.
I can't recall exactly where 1025 is. I guess you mean on the second floor as we know it?
All villas on the lower two floors are Garden View, although like you we could see the ocean with a sideways view.
All villas on the top floor are Ocean View.

Hello Barry, you know what happens if I, owner Select, use a discount code Presidential? (P33 instead of MOD)
a greeting

I am not too sure I understand what you are asking.
I don't believe anything has been published (or even rumoured) yet about discounts for the new ownership levels such as Presidential.
All I can say is that as Premier Plus owner I have used the P33 code when available to get 45% discount and MOD code to get 35% discount when P33 not available.

i'll explain:
I booked a night at MVF, 2 bed, with code MOD: € 194.
This morning I read this treadh, and I became aware of the existence of codes Y83-P33 (or 34).
I tried to make a simulation of booking with the code P33, and the price dropped to 142 €.
Now the question is as follows.
What happens if the check out they realize that I am not entitled to a discount code?
In Italy it is not distributed the visa Marriott .. If I book with the code that requires me to use to pay the Visa Marriott, but I pay with another credit card, what happens?
They make me pay the price MOD? they make me pay the price for regular installments?
Thanks, and sorry for the English but use the google traslator

Paolo

OK, I think I understand now.
If you are not eligible for the particular discount rate that the code used for booking offers, they could (if they pick this up) charge the regular rack rate rather than another discount rate you might be eligible for.
Whether they actually would is difficult to tell, but it is a real risk.
However, if you use any Marriott credit card (do you have a Marriott one in Italy, whether Visa or not?) then that will be acceptable in conjunction with the P33 code or whichever other one your ownership level qualifies you for.
I hope this is understandable.

We rarely book MOD rates, so I don't really know if they check to make suyre you are eligible for said rate. I am thinking the resort can verify ownership and perhaps also your ownership level, but any verification would be manual as to whether to allow or not allow you to checkin under that rate.

We often us AAA rates at hotels and have only been asked to show our AAA card one time. I understand that hotels outside the USA verify eligibility much more often than USA based hotels.

What would they charge you if they determine you are not allowed that rate? Who knows. Perhaps rack rate, perhaps the lowest eligible rate at the time of checkin. The problem is that the MOD rate could have gone up since the time you booked vs when you are checking in. Best just to only book rates you are eligible for.
