Sighting Reasonable 2006 fare to Hawaii for Xmas from NYC area

I'm searching for airfares to Hawaii from the NYC area now, so that I get some experience for when I really am going next Xmas- but I came upon a very good fare for this year:

Dec 20th returning Dec 30th JFK to Kona with one stop in LA $612 including all taxes! UNITED Airlines flight 27/59 & 58/20

Wow! That's better than I've seen for my dates this summer... NY to Kona 7/22, then Lihue to NY 8/5.... can do JFK or LGA, no Newark. The lowest I've seen is $799 on AmericaWest...

I figure it's only there because I don't need it!! If I could buy it for 2007 I would!
