Can anyone provide any info on getting to this Island. It appears that flights are very limited through major airlines and the cost of the small Island hoppers appears to be very expensive. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks

perhaps a cruise?

I know next to nothing about cruises, however, can't you catch a cruise from Miami or Ft. Lauderdale to the Bahamas?

It's been 3 years since we have been there & my links are no longer any good. Try searching on the Abaco board

www.oii.net

They will have the current airlines & info

It is a great place. Think about renting a boat for a day or two & checking out the surrounding cays. Lots to do and a quiet place to relax

I took Continental in July down to Abaco (own at the Regattas of Abaco). Flew Newark to West Palm Beach and then transferred to Cape Air (operating as Continental).

Used frequent flyer miles on that one, remember that paying would have been about $550.

Try Bimini Island Air

www.flybia.com

They have some specials for the month of November...just got an email from them. We've taken them to Bimini and the flight is great (as long as you don't mind small planes).

Vintage Props and Jets

Vintage Props and Jets flies to Marsh Harbour from Daytona, Melbourne, and Ft. Lauderdale. Their planes are no longer "vintage".

Did you get a timeshare exchange there? I've been looking without success for some time now.

Thanks for all of the replies. I have been checking the fares from CT. (BDL) to Marsh Harbour for next June and they avg around $510 & up. Cheapest is from Newark on Continental for $417. Tried all kinds of comb like CT/ West Palm beach/MHH avg about $600. There will be 6 people so it may pay to drive the 1 3/4 hours to newark.

Thanks again for the help.

We went to Marsh Harbor two years ago and will heading there soon. Both times, our flights were booked through credit card points, so choices were limited. Can't recall the prices from 2004, but prices this year were in the $500 from IND. Itinerary both times: Indy to Charlotte to West Palm to Marsh Harbor. The first 2 legs are USair and the last leg is Bahamasair.

One warning regarding Bahamasair: When we were leaving, we checked in and was informed that USair gave us the wrong papers. We needed some sort of pass. Since we didn't have it, we would have to buy a one way ticket to West Palm for an exorbitant amount of money. We protested and made the supervisor call USair to clarify this issue. This also happened to the girl ahead of us who had purchased her ticket on one of the online booking agents (orbitz, priceline, etc. - can't recall which one).
