Can anyone here help me make a pretty ebay listing?

I don't sell too many things on ebay but am thinking of selling an extra Wii that I bought. However, I don't know how to make all those pretty ebay listings that really draw attention. I haven't sold anything on ebay in forever and I see that it has really progressed in terms of how things look.

Can anyone out there help me in any way?

Thanks in advance...

Sharon

I know I've used a website that helped "design" an ebay ad, but am not having any luck in finding it. Any help in pointing to a user friendly site would be greatly appreciated by me as well.

I recently listed a car on ebay and as I was going through the steps to list it it kept asking me if I wanted all those "extras" like pictures, border colors, etc. I think it is pretty self-explanatory but the nickel and dime you to death to add all those things. Good luck on selling, amybe someone on here would be interested? I know I have been thinking of buying one, but can probably find on cheap on ebay.:D

Super-Simple eBay Item Description Template.

Can anyone out there help me in any way?
My nephew gave me a nice HTML template for selling stuff on eBay. I used it for a (non-timeshare) item just tonight. It's super-simple even for an HTML dunce like me. If you want it, let me know & maybe we can figure out a way to send it to you -- like E-Mail or something.

I sell on eBay occasionally. Over the years, eBay has added more and more built-in tools to make your ads look nicer. So you might want to see what you can do with the tools available.

Much of the time, I use a freeware program called Ice Wizard. This will generate a nice ad with a colored background (of your choice), and it's very easy to use. When you are done creating your ad, you just paste it into the eBay window. You will find Ice Wizard at: http://www.greatcove.com/software.htm

There are also a number of good programs to create eBay ads that you'd have to pay for. The fees are small, but if you are only an occasional seller you'll probably prefer something free.

The templates on ebay are enough for most people, but Auctiva is also nice.

Make sure you increase font size on your listing and don't do too many crazy things in your description, just make it easy for people to read. Good luck!

If Everything's Featured, Then Nothing's Featured.

I skip all the added-cost extras except (lately) gallery photo & subtitle & Featured Item Plus when I'm offering an eBay horn.

The extra $19.95 means mine shows up at the top of the list whenever anybody does a search that includes my item in the results -- also every time somebody looks at a regular list of items according to the eBay category mine is in.

A horn that's Featured Item Plus will just about always show up 1st, 2nd, or 3rd on the list.

For items that are more plentiful, however -- e.g., timeshares, travel trailers, etc. -- spending more to get Featured Item Plus status looks like a waste. That's because typically there are 2 or 3 pages of "featured" items to plow through before the "regular" items show up. (Items that are "featured" also show up farther down in the regular eBay order of things, but being shown in 2 places on the list of items doesn't amount to the added visibility of always being shown at the top of the list.)

Ugh...this is way too complicated for me. Ebay has gotten so sophisticated. When I do a search for Wii, it has a whole bunch of "top level" listings and then other "bottom level" listings, which I assume cost less.

I'm not sure the whole exercise is really worth it at this point!

Everything above the line is a Featured Listing - the seller paid extra to get that placement. The listings below the line are the same thing, but the seller didn't pay the extra $19.95 to get that special placement. No difference in the items.

If you're selling a Wii Console, new and with the games and controllers that come with it, just get your listing out there. They're selling like hotcakes right now, and nobody will care how fancy your ad is. I watched the sales of them for awhile last week, and saw about two dozen sell for between $450 and $500. They're hard to get locally, so eBay is about the only place someone can get them this season. Go for it - you'll make somebody really happy. (And don't overlook the $40 in shipping costs those sellers are getting...)

Thanks everyone. I finally got it listed and we are definitely having some fun watching the bids! Even if we don't make a cent, it's an educational experience!

One thing I forgot to do is make the buyer's names private, and I can't see any way to go back and edit that particular thing once bids have been made. But, as I said, it is a learning experience, and now maybe I'll be able to finally sell all of those Ugg boots my kids grew out of!!

Congratulations & Good Luck.

How about an Internet link to your eBay item ?

Your TUG-BBS friends can check it out & say what they think.

Unless you're selling a timeshare, it's not really ad "ad" ( -- is it? -- ) in the sense that gets the TUG-BBS Grand Pro's delete finger to twitching.
