I just won an auction on Ebay from redweeks4less. I have a ko olina 2br for 15,600.00.
I searched on this bbs for iavacations and their closing company and got some disturbing news. I have read the posts carefully about postcard companies and using their own closing company etc.
so....
Can some one PLEASE post or direct me a step by step checklist for me to do before sending the money? What are things I should ask and do. I have never bought a TS before.

Thanks
Rmasu

I have bought a number of TS from that seller. I had no problems at all. If you are philosophically opposed to "post card" companies, you probably should not have bid. But I would have no reservations at all about buying from them. They HAVE the week they are selling you and will put it into a legit escrow (even if it is owned by them) and the transfer will go smoothly based on my experience. As a matter of fact, my most trouble free and fastest transactions have been from eBay sellers (that I carefully screen before bidding -- redweek being one of my ok ones; wantedweeks NOT being on my ok list).

Thanks again,
I read that article, but I guess I was wondering if I should send some money to the company for the paperwork to get started or do I just send the whole amount?
THanks

The seller contacted me and asked me to pay for the whole amount is this customary, or do I wait for some paperwork first then send the money to the escrow.
Thanks
Ross

IMHO, if it is a reputable escrow agent, go ahead. That's what escrow is for. :)

They hold your money until the deal is satisfactory to both parties and then pay the seller.

Cheers
