:whoopie: I've been checking SW for our trip to San Francisco this summer....and found fares as low as $99 each way, (PHL-OAK or SF). Previously, the lowest SW fare was $149. I'm thrilled....especially since I also earned some frequent flier tickets...and now the three of us are flying roundtrip for under $300!!!! Add in our timeshare exchange into the Donatello.....and we get a great week in SF for a fraction of the cost!:cheer:

I LOVE timesharing.....and Southwest!!!!

I have a couple of Southwest tickets that now show up at a lower price. How does one change the tickets for the lower price?

We call and cancel and rebook with the lower fare.

SWA Policy
If you cancel your flight, 100% of your ticket value can be applied to future travel for up to 12 months. This value can be applied to future travel to be completed for up to 12 months, or by your ticket’s expiration date, whichever comes first.

The remaining money you have left over will stay on the books for a future flight.

Use the "View or Change Your Flight" link on the home page, then input your confirmation # & names, then "go". It will take you to a screen with the legs of your trip, and you can select any or all of them to change. It then goes to the flights you can choose, etc. When you've finished all your changes, it will show you how much credit you have. It's really easy. I love Southwest!

To the OP!

Many thanks!!!!!

I Didn't think to check this. Because of this post I saved 40% of the cost - $700 future credit!!!! On a family trip to FL in April.

How long is the credit good for?

Glad to have helped! :) I actually had a $75 credit from our December trip to Florida, (rebooked a ticket when prices dropped in the late fall), that I applied to the California trip.

The ability to rebook at a lower fare (and have money credited to my account), is one of the reasons I love Southwest!:D Add in the fact that they don't charge for bags, have decent, (and free), snacks.......you can understand why they are my favorite airline.

It's good for a year from the original booking date, not the travel date. You can buy a 6-month extension if you need it, I think for $50 per ticket.

I just had two trips reduced, with a large credit now. Although I love the reductions, I tend to think its a gimick to keep you booking more trips on SW. I book far ahead, cause I need certain nonstop flights, or dates, then am left with a credit. I know its transferable cause I've done it, but still.....

Thanks, OP. My flights have gone down $80 (total; $20x4 tix) and I just used the credit to purchase more tickets. I love this policy and the ability to cancel without a cancellation fee.

Thanks! Just saved $212 on round-trip flights from BWI to PHX.
How do you used your credit when booking another flight?

Your money is now in a ticketless funds account. The account number is the confirmation number from your original flight purchase. When you book new tickets, there is a section that asks if you have any ticketless travel funds. You put in the Confirmation Number and your name. The amount will be deducted from your new purchase.

And this is bad because...............:D

And if you no longer have the original confirmation number....you can call customer support, give the number of the credit card used, name on the ticket....and they will give you the original confirmation number.

I just LOVE Southwest. I liked their old president, Herb and I love the way they do business (ok, it IS a flying cattle car, I admit it). :ignore: I had been checking prices so I could surprise my daughter for her birthday this year when FareCompare notified me of a hefty price drop on Southwest. Got my roundtrip ticket in hand (and I am pretty confident that SW will be around this summer, too). :cheer:
