Renting w/ Alamo through Southwest?

Has anyone booked their alamo rental car through Southwest? I just got an offer with my click and save email that will save me about $60 on the same car I already have reserved. Any downside to doing this?

Thanks!

I can't think of a downside. If it saves you money, go for it!

I have rented from Alamo thru Southwest and directly via Alamo's website. I have not noticed any difference except when renting via Southwest, the small print spells out exactly what the charge per day will be if you keep the vehicle longer than the original reservation. When renting directly via Alamo, the extra charge is noted as the 'local station rate' which could be anything.

I have not had any trouble renting either way, I just use whichever is cheapest.

Thanks.

I'm trying to figure out if I can just cancel this reservation like a regular Alamo reservation if I find something cheaper.

Thanks again!

That would be the only question I would have. I have never made a car rental reservation through Southwest, so I don't know if there is anything in their fine print that would prevent it.

My only concern would be based on an experience we had when we rented a Budget car through Southwest. When we landed, it seemed every person on the plane (and possibly several planes ahead of us) had made the same rental deal. The line at the Budget counter was excruciatingly long, and they ran out of cars. Fortunately I had my laptop and secured a competitively priced Alamo reservation (their counter was empty) and we left after waiting in line at Budget for over 45 minutes. I don't know how long we would've had to wait if we had stayed in the line at Budget. Nothing was ever charged to my credit card by Budget or SW.

Resorts: harborside wkv,svv(x5), sdo(x3), finally 5* and done!!
i have used alamo with the southwest as my FF so i got rapid rewards for the rental. do you have a SW visa card if you do make sure you pay for the rental with that card and give them your SW RR number so you get credit for the rental. when you use the SW visa card for one of their partners you get double points for the price of the rental.

actually using an alamo promo in dec in orlando.
