Chances for trading into Grand Chateau Vegas
I placed a request through II (Marriott desk) offering a spring break week 2010 in Aruba (Ocean Club) for a spring break week 2010 at Grande Chateau in Las Vegas. It would be an even up 2BR for 2BR exchange. As of now there isn't a match. II offered a resort outside of the Marriott system (not same quality rating) and I turned it down, opting to try and hold out for Grande Chateau. Am I pie-in-the-sky here, or is this something that will likely come through in a few weeks if I'm patient?

Trade power shouldn't be an issue. The issue you'll have is actually finding a two bedroom deposit at this point in time. For those wanting to exchange MGC, March offers some of the higher demand weeks. It woudn't be unreasonable to think there still may be some late 2 bedroom deposits but, I'm not sure I'd bet the farm on it. Like I said, it's not an issue of exchange power in this case. If there is an issue, it will be an issue of available 2 bedroom units for exchange due to these units being lock-outs and what I consider a late request for this property.

Depending on how bad you want the trade you could contact II and see if a 1 Br and efficiency are available. If so II would most likely let you reserve both, with two exchange fees. Then contact Marriott and ask them to combine them.

Other than the fact you'll pay two exchange fees, this is a good idea.

I see units all the time at MGC. You can also look at gateways. Not sure how many people go to Vegas to stay in a timeshare over spring brake. I know that last year there was a big push for Vegas in Southern california, since many people did not go to Mexico.

The thing is, do you see 2 bedroom units all the time? I see a lot of 1 bedroom and studio units and the occasional 2 bedroom. At issue here is going to be the relatively short notice for the exchange of 5 months. Most MGC owners are going to break up their weeks as all 2 bedroom units are lock-outs. The 2 bedrooms that are not lock-outs are the master suites of the 3 bedroom units. There's only 30 someodd of those in each tower so, maybe 70 of those units all together.
