There's a chance I might be going to Norway this summer, if a grant is awarded me. What is the best/cheapest way to get there during prime summer travel season? Which LCCs or major airlines service Oslo or thereabouts? I'm willing to also fly to European gateway cities and then take a LCC to Norway. Anyone have tips for me?

Often times Iceland Air will have specials. Their US flights are out of Boston, MSP, New York, Orlando and Seattle (all connecting through Reykjavik). You usually can find a flight that allows for, but does not require, a stay in Iceland of several days on either end of your trip.

SAS
SAS flys to Norway and they are *alliance but if you book them be careful to get a rate that includes ff miles because many of theirs don't. Also they usually have an "advent calendar" on their website starting December1 with city specials that can be a substantial discount.

Check the airline list on the Links Directory at www.timeshareforums.com
I have never really looked at the route map of Norway-based LCC Norwegian, but they might have something that works. Several major LCC's fly there, RyanAir and Air Berlin being two that come to mind. Unfortunately, I do not think Aer Lingus, which has reinvented itself as an LCC and also flies TATL routes, flies there. If you are connecting to an LCC. avoid doing so in the UK because of the huge ''save the planet'' air ticket taxes there.

Wow - lucky you (if it comes to be). Where in Norway? It's on my wishlist for sure! (The fjord area - but by land.)

I have flown Wizz Air many times. It is one of the better LCC's. I would definitely choose it over Ryan Air, although its website can sometimes be difficult to use, and if you are using a CapOne card to avoid the 3% foreign usage ripoff fee on other cards, it often will not go through their lousy ''Verified by Visa'' program.
