Question Has anyone needed to file a claim with access america?

I seem to be flying into a hurricane this weekend and wondered if anyone else has had to file a claim with access america.
If the airline is flying, I will go....just curious as to how this would work.
I took $1,000 insurance to cover my husband and me.

This is how the breakdown looks....

Plan Purchased: Comprehensive Trip Protector
Benefits and maximum coverage amounts are per individual (unless noted otherwise):
Baggage Delay Coverage $500.00
Concierge
24-Hour Hotline Assistance
Emergency Medical Transportation $50,000.00
Emergency Medical and Dental Benefit $10,000.00
Trip Cancellation Protection $300.00
Travel/Trip Delay Coverage $500.00
Trip Interruption Protection $300.00

-------------------------------------------------------------------
Total Package Price: $37.50
Amount Paid: $37.50
Order Type: Gateway

My interpretation of this is that if the airline doesn't fly and we get pushed to the next day, my hotel will be covered?
And if everything is canceled - we would get the full amount of $500 each? or $300 each.....

Any help appreciated.

Among others, ttt and andrea t have in the past reported here of making claims to Access America with the result being prompt and satisfactory settlements.

I don't know whether you would get the full amount of the coverage or only up to the amount of unexpected out-of-pocket expenditures. The policy T&C should provide the answer.

Yes, I put in a claim through Access America when I cancelled a cruise for a medical reason. Access America processed it quickly.

Hey, nice to see u Dave M.... Andrea, great to hear they processed quickly. I am hoping that I will not need to put in a claim but reserved a room at JFK in case my flight is canceled. I will keep all receipts of any added expenses. Thanks again for the reassurance.

Hi Pat,

I also processed a claim with Access America last December when I had to fly home early when my mom was hospitalized. I took a little while on my part to get everything together, but once I mailed it in I had a check from them in 7 days. When I called them, their customer support was well trained and very helpful.

Nazclk, You might try calling them to get an update. If something's missing or unclear in what you submitted, that might delay processing the claim.

P.S. Hey Dave! How the heck are ya???
