We'll be staying in the original tower in June, and my wife is concerned about the smaller size refrigerator.

I searched the threads and found something indicates its a counter-top sized refrigerator, larger than a dormitory refrigerator, and that there have been mixed reactions to the storage capacity.

I can't find anything on whether or not the refrigerator has a freezer section (even a very small one).

Any experience someone can add on the refrigerator/freezer capacity?

Thanks!

The fridge is about 1/2 the size of a normal fridge, all under the counter. It has a small freezer that varies in ability to actually freeze something. Some of ours have worked great, some haven't.

The freezer in the one we had was able to store nothing larger than an ice cube tray.

Fridge-freezer capacity really depends on the type of vacation you want. We stayed in the original tower and the small fridge worked just fine for us. We ate all breakfasts in, most lunches on the beach and about half of our dinners out. If you have a car, and if memory serves me right, the grocery store is not too far away.

We own a unit in the original section and the new section and obviously the full kitchen in the new section is a bonus.

Having said that, we find the mini-kitchen to be quite functional. We just have to make adjustments.

We use the ice machine for ice rather than trying to use the small freezer in the fridge. We use that for ice cream.

We take out one of the shelves so gallon milk jugs fit.

We keep the fridge in mind when we are at Safeway shopping. BTW - it is pretty close by so while you will need to go to the store more often, it isn't that big a deal for us.

For dinners, we just grill on one of the grills on site or go out.

And we use the microwave to cook and heat stuff up.

Works pretty well, all things considered.
