We like Vistana (Resort or Villages), we bought Resort after staying at Villages in 2009. They are central to Universal, SeaWorld and Disney; about 10 minutes to each driving. And we do suggest driving - the shuttles offered by the resorts are expensive and will outstrip the cost of a compact rental in no time flat.

Check for last minute rental deals on the Internet. I hear of people getting cars for $15-20 per day.

Because of the location of Universal, the nearer resorts are generally older and less desirable. The trick is finding a nice resort a reasonable distance away.

Have fun!

Resorts: Westgate- Park City, Orlando, & Miami Beach. Bay & Beach Club Indian Shores. Ski Side Village, PA.
Universal and Disney are pretty far apart. There are LOTS of timeshares that are between the two.

Which park are you planning on visiting the most? Maybe you should try and look for something closer to that one otherwise I doubt you will have much difference.

Thumbs up

Here are some resorts to look @ as a starting point: Cypress Pointe Resorts & Cypress Pointe Grand Villas; Marriott's Resorts (Royal Palms, Grande Vista, Cypress Harbour, Imperial Palm) and Hilton Grand Vacation Club @ Sea World all of these resorts are less than 8 miles from Universal Studios.

Resorts: FF/ Wyndham Williamsburg - Kingsgate, FF/Wyndham Myrtle Beach/Westwinds, Lifetime in Hawaii (Oahu)
I believe the closest may be the Wyndham Orlando International Resort Club which is OK but not the best timeshare in terms of resort features. It is very convenient, however, to Universal Studios.
