We're interested in a quick vacation to Myrtle Beach and are thinking of trying RCI last call to see if anything is available. Do I go through RCI or HGVC to do that?

If you are relying on your HGVC membership for your access to RCI, even for last-call. you still need to ask HGVC to make the booking... [or go online to the HGVC website and use its portal to RCI reservations].

Its like we're Cinderella and if we want to go to the dance at the palace, we need to ask HGVC to schedule the coach, but the online portal does make it easier set it up.

I did have to use HGVC to make my last RCI reservation but that was to initiate a search. So is there a place where we look to see what is available in RCI inventory or do we just have to call and see if they have anything on dates we are interested in? If it's the latter that would tend to take the spontanaeity out.

RCI Extra Vacations

Here's what I can see with my non-HGVC RCI acct when I search for RCI Gold Crown Resorts

We have online access to RCI Last Call but not RCI Extra Vacations. You have to call for Extra Vacations availability.

Logon to your HGVC account
Go to MY CLUB, then RCI AFFILIATED RESORTS then RESERVATIONS then Click on the RCI Globe in the main screen
Another window will be launch for access into the RCI webportal. From there select the tab called Rental Reservation and then select Last Call.

For more info on the HGVC RCI website - see this old post http://www.tugbbs.com/forums/showthread.php?t=100637&highlight=rci

I got in there, perfect description of how to gain access. Can you only do RCI last call for a week or can you book days like HGVC open season?

There's RCI Extra Vacations, RCI Last Call and RCI Open Season.
You can book days via RCI Open Season however we don't have online access to RCI Open Season.

From pg 139 of the 2010 HGVC Member Guide
"Members may also access unreserved RCI accommodations utilizing ClubPoints, Bonus Points or by paying a special Club Member rental rate during the RCI Open Season reservation window that ends two (2) days prior to check-in and has a minimum three (3) night stay requirement. Check-in dates for resorts available through RCI vary and typically fall on Friday, Saturday or Sunday. Cancellation of an Open Season rental reservation through RCI will result in forfeiture of $125 of the fee paid for the reservation. Cancellation of an RCI Open Season reservation using points is subject to the Resort Reservation Cancellation policy on page 137."

$125 fee on top of the last call price? Apparently they don't want HGVC people making short stays through RCI.

I'm assuming the $125 exchange fee only applies when using points for RCI Open season reservations. The HGVC desk can confirm.
