there is a sticky or two at the top of this forum that you ought to read as a start.

Then the decision is do it yourself or hire a broker...

Whatever you do dont pay someone an up front fee to advertise your timeshare and dont believe the folks that say.."I have a buyer, just send me $xxx up front"

Timeshare Selling Reality Check.

forum thread or links that anyone can direct me to to help with the timeshare sale?
One invaluable piece of help is knowing at the outset whether your timeshare is 1 of the relatively few with any resale value at all.

Some are -- maybe $4,000 or less.

Most are not worth anything, other than whatever it's worth to go there & have a nice vacation, but nothing or next to nothing as a piece of property to sell.

Literally nothing -- as in zip, zilch, zorch, zero, nil, null nada, zippity-doodah.

Another extremely important point is not to fall for any of the scams & bamboozles & hornswoggles out there aimed at separating you from your money in advance by pretending they have buyers lined up just waiting to pay you major money for your timeshare. Offers like that are guaranteed 100% baloney, no exceptions.

Full Disclosure: We gave away four -- 4 -- perfectly good timeshares, 2 last year & 2 the year before that. One we deeded back to the resort, with advance permission & cooperation. Another we gave to a fellow TUG member. The last 2 we offered el freebo on Kijiji Dot Com, & we got takers for both. (The same taker, actually. Who'd a-thunk?) To us, it made more sense to give'm away for nothing than to try to sell'm for next to nothing.

Start off by going to ebay to determine the current resale value of your timeshare. Most timeshares are selling for 0-10% of original retail. :(

Go to ebay
Log in
Search for your resort by EXACT name
In the menu on the left, click on COMPLETED AUCTIONS
That will show you what it's actually SELLING for

If the resale value is low, then it won't be cost effective to use a broker, because they charge a commission of $1,000 and up. There are definitely reputable brokers, but for a low or zero value TS, it doesn't make sense to pay commission.

If it has no resale value, and you want to give it away - we have a forum for that on TUG: http://tugbbs.com/forums/showthread.php?t=132509

WHATEVER YOU DO, DON'T PAY ANYONE A HIGH UPFRONT FEE - THOSE FOLKS HAVE NO INTENTION OF SELLING YOUR TIMESHARE - THEY JUST WANT YOUR $$$.
