I have just purchased a WKV resale (my first SVO) timeshare purchase. Knowing that this is a mandatory resort, does it entitle me to converto to starpoints every other year? Or, would my purchase have to have been directly from the developer to get that benefit?

Thanks!
Martin

No Star Points for resale purchasers. But that's one of the very few things you lose by purchasing a mandatory resort such as Kierland by resale (counting this unit towards 3*, 4*, or 5* status being the only other I can think of). And as you can read on other threads, Star Points are no longer that great a deal anyway.

You did well by purchasing resale; think of the 35-45% discount you received.

No SP to SO conversion for resale.
You also cannot combine SOs with other resale purchases.
You can use you SOs to exchange within the SVN network (being a Mandatory resort).
What season unit type did you buy (#SOs)?

Thanks for both your responses.

We bought platinum (148,100) 2BR lockoff.

Would I be entitled to the starpoints conversions and "staroptions towards elite" if I were to re-qual this resale purchase by making another purchase directly from the developer?

Thanks,
Martin

Yes. But be sure to read the post on how to do the re-qual before you go into contract with the developer and follow the instructions very carefully.

Most people don't feel that paying the MFs and losing the use of your TS for the year is worth the hotel points you get.

I just requalified my WKV. If you follow the sticky you shouldn't have any problems. Starwood seems to be very aware and accomodating with requals!
