Hi tuggers

Just want to share, a little experience I had the other day, with hgvc/RCI.

So I had a reservation for a 2BR through HGVC-RCI, which was 4.800 hgvc points.

I called in to have it cancelled and have the points transferred back to my account. The HGVC-RCI guide told me that the reservation looked "funny" how so I asked?. I seemed that the reservations had been made with a 60 TPU weeks trader .

The guide claimed that I would get those back to my account.

I told the rep that even though I had a RCI weeks account, that had absolutely nothing to do with my HGVC account - which he agreed. After a lot of talk forth and back, which also included a regular HGVC guide, my vacation was cancelled.

They were now able to see that I had only used 640 hgvc points for the reservation. I told them that I have "paid" with 4.800 pints which I would like to have back, but since they could only see 640 points they gave me those points back.

Since I kept asking for my remaining points, they ordered a points audit of my account, this audit should be ready sometime next week.

When I go though ALL my reservations on both the HGVC system and on the RCI side, this includes future reservations and past reservations I come up approx 6000 points short.

Have anyone else ever tried loosing points like this?

I asked the hgvc guide how it was possible to loose points like this, and the answer was that the reservation system is not geared to create/modifying too often, which I seems to have done

Regards

Hgvc found more than 5000 points which was missing from my account.

I advice people to be aware when they book and cancel, remember to get your points back.

Regards.

I audit my account and everytime there is to be a change I double check it. Easier for HGVC as changes to points appear immediately. Wyndham is not so cooperative, point status updates in 24 to 48 hrs. That sucks.

I may be overly cautious, but I use a spreadsheet to track each HGVC + RCI booking I make separately, the source+amount of points, the effect on my rescued+current balance, and if changed/cancelled, the place to which the points were returned and the effect on my balance.

Whenever I make a change I take a screen shot of the points with my iPad both before and after the change.

Sounds like I need to document every transaction I make on my account.
