How do I exchange a December 2007 week I can't use?

Well, our plans have taken an unexpected turn and it looks like we might not be able to use our reserved week in December. I'd rather trade it than just sell it or lose it. Where would be the best forum to post it from a trade? We'd prefer to go somewhere else that same week if possible.

Last Minute Rentals or Sightings & Distress - be sure you read the rules for each forum before posting. Just my opinion, but trading for the exact week is going to be difficult at this late date, but it doesn't hurt to ask! Good luck!

You will have to become a member to place it on the Sightings and Distress Board.

Your best chance for a trade would be to deposit your week with an exchange company. Although you'll lose quite a bit of trading power with a deposit this late, you'll have more exchange options available to you.

There won't be any loss of trading power if you deposit it with Dial an Exchange www.daelive.com because that exchange company doesn't use trading power. Their exchanges are one for one. The only problem is that they don't take deposits less than 60 days before check-in unless they have a client waiting for that week. So if you have a week that DAE is looking for, you might want to deposit it there. Then you'll have two years to confirm an exchange.
You can contact DAE from their website, or go to the "Ask Dial an Exchange" Forum here on TUG.

If OP is interested in the same week, though, such trading power restrictions may not matter. If there is something else that week, OP should be able to see it---modulo internal-preference restrictions in II, and lord-knows-what in RCI. ;)

Have you tried contacting Trading Places to see whether they will take you week? If they won't immediately take it (since it is so close to the check in date), they can offer it up and see if anyone is interested. If there is a taker for your week, you'll get an exchange credit.

I'm sorry - I'm not familiar with Trading Places? Our resort is registered with RCI. We would only get 25% of the exchange points if we canceled now, so that's why I was looking for a trade 1st.

If this is an exchange - through RCI Points - you will not be able to exchange it again through another company. When you used the term "reservation" some assumed you meant a reservation at your home resort.

Since this appears to be an RCI Points reservation, you have fewer options. Check the Sightings and Distress Board, and follow the rules there. You may be able to find someone interested in your week. Getting a different exchange is not terribly likely, but you might be able to arrange a future exchange booked by whoever takes your week.
