We were told by Sales that you can now bank any amount of StarOptions during the year for $99.I was always told it was full weeks only. They said they started this year by letting owners bank as many or as few as you like ..Has anyone heard of this?:ponder:

It's never been full weeks only - you may be thinking about converting to Starpoints, which does have to be done in full week increments.

Possible confusion with II banking... which must be a full week (no $99 fee).

Definitely any amount -- I had a whopping 150 SOs left over in 2014 and I banked them in to 2015.

No idea what random amount will be left-over next year...

That values them at 66c each. Even WKOTV can't justify that banking transaction!
I thought hard about banking 3000! It's a cheap night but would I use that?

Banking is free for 5 Star Elite owners...so no cost to YYJMSP.

No banking cost for Five-Star Elite members.

Now I'm just waiting to book WSJ, and I'll either just have enough SOs left for 10days, or I'll be short a few hundred SOs, which would be really annoying...

i thought i had to bank my SO by july 1 or somewhere around there or i couldn't bank them at all and my only options were to deposit in II or use them this year. i have 76k SO from this year that i'm not going to use and i will gladly pay to roll them over but SVN said no i couldn't. can I?

The deadline depends on your Elite Status -
SUMMARY:

5* Elite Owners: No charge.
3* and 4* Elite Owners: $79
All other (non-Elite) Owners: $99

Non-Elite SVN members can request SO Banking no later than July 1
3* and 4* Elite members may request SO Banking through October 1
5* Elite members may request SO Banking through December 31

However, once a reservation is <60 days away - SO Banking is no longer allowed.

At this point your only option is to deposit your week in II - or use it, unless you are 5 Star Elite.

A good strategy is to sit down with your calendar, and mark all the deadlines down, as early as possible. Also - get a reservation on the books for 2015 now - even if you have to move it later, it's better to have a reservation early.

banking

So doing a rough planning of the next couple of years use it appears that next year we will probably end up banking a portion of our staroptions. I know that they are good for two years, so when we bank from 2016 they are good until dec 31st 2018. My question is when I book a trip in 2017 are our 2017 use year options used first leaving the 2016 options still banked going into 2018 or are the banked options used first?

If you use the Staroptions to make a reservation, you can't do it until the 8 mo. mark, and you lose your home resort priority.

If you make a home resort reservation, you can make it at the 12 mos. mark and you retain your home resort priority.

If you want to make a Staroption reservation, I would call to make sure the oldest Staroptions are used first.

When you book online at MSC, it shows you which SO's are available to use/combine to make a booking. It shows each unit available with whatever unused SO's are left for that unit, and a separate line that shows your unused banked SO's. So you choose when to use and how many of your SO's to make a booking.

Not sure if it shows banked SO's from two different years (say you banked some from 2014 and some from 2015 and are trying to book in 2016) separately or if they're grouped together...
