Hi all. We will be making our 2nd trip to the NV Grand Mayan next May. This time we are taking our friends and their children. I have 2 questions:

1. There are 4 adults and 5 children. We have a 2 bedroom suite which should sleep 12. The Grand Mayan web page indicates that max capacity is 8 people. Will we have an issue with getting all 9 wristbands?

2. Is there anyway to have separate charge accounts for each family (billed to our room) so that we don't have to split our bar taps with our friends?

Your advice is much appreciated.

Most (not all) resorts are fairly strict about capacity numbers. 8 usually means 8. I would call and ask before I just showed up.

Most 2BR sleep between 6 and 8, not 12!

1. They will allow the 9th person if it is a child under 12 - and yes, they COULD sleep 12 comfortably - those are BIG units with 4 sofas that sleep 2 each plus 2 kings size beds.

2. don't know, we didn't share our unit.

At the Grand Mayan Riviera Maya, we split our 2 bedroom unit up with another couple. At our request, the front desk was able to split and separately key the units (Hotel Unit and 1 bedroom unit each got different keys) and bill separately. This way, we were all able to charge to our rooms without having to worry about the bill at the end.

I would guess that the Grand Mayan in Nuevo Vallarta would be able to do the same.

We have taken friends and family with us to the Mayan Palace and the Grand Mayan many times. Like TravelSFO said, they will assign a different name & credit card to each room. Both couples put a credit card on file at check-in and we have not had any problems.

I also think that they will allow an extra person if they are under 12.

Thank you all so much for your replies. We should be fine as the 9th person is a child under 12.
