Dumping and "donation" ain't at all the same thing...
Timeshare Specialists indicate that we can donate our timeshare to charity. How reliable is this group? Has anyone had experience with them?
Most timeshares are frankly worth very little money. Many are literally worth nothing, some are worth considerably
less than nothing.
Essentially, timeshare ownership is a ongoing, permanent financial
liability (...except, of course, to an owner who either uses and enjoys the timeshare, or successfully rents out time for profit, or "exchanges" the ownership, all of which certainly help a whole lot to justify and mitigate the ongoing and permanent costs of ownership).
No
legitimate charity wants anything at all to do with receiving a timeshare ownership. Let's be honest and objective about this; it's not
any form or flavor of "donation". It is instead simply and clearly just the attempted transfer (...or dumping, to be even more blunt) of a financial
liability from one entity onto the shoulders of another.
Attempting to label any such effort as a "donation to charity" is completely disingenuous, at best. Any subsequent talk of "tax deduction" for donating something of no (..or even negative) value of course moves in the direction of outright fraud (to be clear however, OP above made
no such mention of seeking any tax deduction).
