It is an every other year deed, so the maintenance fee is $1,400 per year for 81,000 Staroptions.

In comparison, the MF at WKV for 148,100 Staroptions is about $1,480 per year.

Got it -- so the $566/year listed for the MF was wrong?

Interesting (but not shocking) -- thank you!

In comparison the up front cost is also $15-20k

No - it's correct - with an EOY MF you pay half the MF each year + all of the SVN membership fee, but you only get usage every other year.

Year 1
$566
$130

Year 2
$566
$130

Exactly: SVV is cheap upfront, w/high maintenance fees, and WKV is expensive upfront w/low maintenance fees.

That's a very good price (assuming closing costs aren't greatly inflated).

Here was the breakdown of cost per SO for WKV v SVV using $18,500 and $2500 as respective purchase prices.

http://www.tugbbs.com/forums/showpost.php?p=1675087&postcount=7

Of course, as others have said, WKV has held its value very well, and it may be possible to buy it for $18,500 and recoup most of that when you sell it. And it'll have higher II trading power. So if you have the extra $20k sitting around, I'd buy WKV. If you don't, I'd buy SVV Bella or Key West as a nice, low cost alternative to WKV.

That is a great price but I follow these and happens sometimes. I grabbed a 1br (44k SO) for <$100 about a year ago. And closing was cheap!!
