Recently I needed to send a gift from NY to California. Breakable, odd shaped etc. Tried US Postal Service Box, NG. Our local packaging store wasn't eager (this was over the phone.)

I resorted to going to the local liquor store and found an empty box there, took it home, used shipping "Peanuts", bubble wrap, and finally newspaper to assure safe delivery.

Got to the local post office and they are not allowed to ship anything in a liquor box! Bummer. Postal employee was nice enough to have a few odds and ends of boxes and even gave me one. Taped up, changed address label & off it went.

I never knew this about used liquor boxes.

I won't do that again.:(

P.S. Package arrived intact.:hi:

The post office will give you a free box if you ship priority.
They're good boxes and you can print your postage online.
They'll even come and pick up the box at your home. :)

Grocery stores empty and break down cartons in the mornings. Lots of different shapes and sizes. Usually workers are glad to have you choose what you want.

Thanks MRSFUZZY. Good to know.

Another nice benefit of shipping prioirity IF you order your postage online is that you will get free tracking (but not free tracking if you pay at the post office). And it's cheaper online.
