Hi to all........

My fax machine (Sharp, 5 years old) stoped sending. Multi machine, fax, printer, copy @ phone. $100. repair fee as informed by Sharp. +shipping.

I bought a new HP (forget the #) couldn't be used with a separate answering/phone located in my kitchen. $99.00. Returned it Staples, refund, no questions etc.:)

Bought another hp # 640 fax series recommended by HP tech when we were trying to solve previous machines not working. $79. from HP online.

Instruction booklet says it is answering machine friendly and I guess it is but in order for it to work the answering machine MUST be plugged into the back of the fax machine making 2 phones side by side. One on the fax machine and the other one on our kitchen phone/answering machine that we moved into the office to give it a try. We have the kitchen phone set to answer the call on ring #4. Set the fax machine to answer on ring #5. No good!!!!!!
That was the settings system that worked on our old Sharp setup.

Have gotten several "tips" from Cablevision and from HP. HP guy was stumped, said he have to ask the manager and he'd call back. The call never happened.

This is very frustrating to say the least.

Any Geeks to the rescue?

Thanks.
