Has anyone out there attempted to do a makeover of their timeshare portfolio through permanent exchanges with other owners? If so, what were the results? I am thinking about retirement. I would like to find a way to reduce my maintenence fees and thought maybe owning smaller units would be a good way to accomplish that. Any thoughts?

We just completed a portfolio make-over, but not with other owners.

You certainly could post a for sale ad, asking for a trade of timeshares. This might work as long as the money/trade expectations and demands are too high.

Its difficult to find those situations where what you have is exactly what I want and what I have exactly fits your needs.

That isnt to say dont try, but I would be prepared to sell your stuff first and then buy what you want
