We were just in a 2 BR at Ocean Palms in Hilton Head. Huge tub in each bathroom. Total waste of space. I have a jetted tub at home which I never use. I won't get in a tub or hot tub at any resort...just wouldn't feel they were clean.

I heard once ( I think from TS housekeeping) that you can fill it up and pour in DW detergent to clean it, as well. We rarely use one in a TS, as we have one at home. I recall one TS that did away with jacuzzi tubs when they renovated. I am surprised that more have not gone to just a large soaking tub.

I filled up one of those jacuzzi tubs in the Wyndham in Branson after putting bubble bath in it and turned on the jets and started an "I Love Lucy" episode all by myself in the bathtub as the bubbles just wouldn't stop flowing even after I turned off the jets. It was like it was alive and coming after me.

I don't think me and jacuzzi tubs are a good thing.

I think DW has used one only one time shortly after we bought. We prefer the big garden showers that many of the newer resorts have. I do know that there would be some owners that would be very upset if they ever removed the tubs.

We use the Jetted Tubs while on vacation at our TS vacations. Nice little perk!

I'm a 100% shower guy at home, but I can't resist the Westin tubs when on vacation. Great place to relax with a drink and chat through the "window" to the bedroom.

We also run bleach through the jets before using the tubs.

We also had a terrible experience at the Marriott's Grande Vista resort, with these cornflake-sized pieces of gunk coming out of the jets, even after running the bleach through them, not just once, but three different times.

The housekeeping staff brought some product that should have cleaned the jets out completely, but after two times, there were still flakes of ick coming out of the jets. I believe I wrote a review of that experience.

Marriott's staff was very kind and placed us in a newer area, even moving our things for us. They also gave us a Marriott credit, which we used at the burger place by the pool and also at Nick's for a hot breakfast. Above and beyond.

You describe it well. I guess I really don't know what those gunk flakes actually were, but I assumed it was the worst thing that came to my mind. And, it smelled too. So gross! With two of us now reporting this similar experience, my fellow Tuggers you've been officially warned: "beware the jetted tubs at MGV! use at your own risk!"

At home, I never use our bathtub, preferring to shower in our separate shower stall. Since we usually vacation in warmer climes, I am not tempted to use the jacuzzi tubs. Now, if it was cold and blustery, i would be sorely tempted. I confess that I do love the hot tubs at the resorts.

When the kids and grandbabies travel with us, they love to use the jetted tubs.

Always take a bath...whether it's a jacuzzi tub or regular tub. Love to relax in a hot bath w/ a magazine or good book. Really missed my bath when on our European trip....as both the apartment in London and the TS outside Paris, (Royal Regency), only had showers.

Deb

We have a jetted tub at home as well, usually I take showers, but if time allows, I fill that tub add some smell good something and grab a book. Nothing like a good soak to ease tired muscles!

I would be so disappointed if TS got rid of the jetted tubs! :(

I agree the jetted tubs are a total waste of space.

We use them in TSs both jetted and non jetted. I don't use the non-jetted ones but the wife likes to soak sometimes.

We always run water with bubble bath type soap through them before soaking in them because I'm sure house keeping doesn't' take this step to ensure clean jets.

When you get out of the tub, isn't that stuff you just washed off your body now forming a coating all over your "clean" body? As for a community hot tub, I'd sooner share a strangers toothbrush ...and that'll never happen either.

I almost never take a bath, but I have always showered at the end of it. I thought everyone did. Am I wrong?

Yep, shower first to clean, soak in tub then rinse off with the shower.

When I've taken baths (I used to when I was a kid) I never showered afterwards. I didn't know that was an option. ;)

I use the jacuzzi tubs to store our dirty clothes and misc. stuff. Good to throw the used towels into as well. I am a fan of getting rid of them during remodels.

Heck, I thought you were supposed to throw a few racks of assorted beers in there and scatter some bags of ice over it and call all the new friends and TUGgers there. Fire up the grill! Have a PARTY!!! It's VACATION!!!

That's the best use of a tub for me!

I use the villa jacuzzi to toss all of my Scuba gear at the Royal Hacienda. Such a waste, but it does get used for that.

In our first apartment the washing machine was in the kitchen - it was the perfect beer cooler! That's how we got into the habit of never doing laundry on the weekends - Thursday night we got it all done so that the cooler would be free. :D

I used to use the tubs until I read on the disboards someone's graphic experience with all the gunk that came out of the jets. Now I'm afraid to even do the bleach-cleaning cycle for fear of what I might see during that! At home it's okay because I'm the one who regularly runs the clean cycle.

That's funny because we store all of our rafts and beachie items in the Aruba Surf Club tub.

Just to clarify, do you think that someone shoves poop into the jets? I don't see how else poop would come out of the jets.

Ewwww! No! THAT thought never occurred to me ... but it will from now on! The gunk is black mold. (And in that too-graphic description on the disboards, creepy crawlies were living in it.)

Oh yuck. Now I need a shower.

.

Then, I am glad that I asked! I assumed the completely wrong thing.

One reason for timeshares is to feel a little bit of luxury you may not get at home or in a regular hotel.

There are lots of things I don't use at a timeshare but I realize others use them and never thought of them as a waste of space or money.

Not everyone uses everything. Maybe some might think of the microwave or dishwasher or pool or hot tub or sport court or deck is a waste of space, or the seasoning packets a waste of money.

As for the tub issue, I love the large tubs with NO JETS, for all the nasty yucky reasons listed above. Put it this way: there's a reason doctors and other health experts say not to use the ubiquitous pedicure jetted tubs. You can "pick up" stuff. (And you're only putting your feet in those!)

If I wasn't so lazy on vacays, I'd do the bleach thing.
