We bought 1,000 Trust Points at the start of the program (we also have two enrolled weeks). Haven't had much success in using them. Many of the things the sales rep told us have been exaggerated. When we did attempt to use them, we could never get reservations. We were frustrated and asked Marriott if they would purchase them back or if there was a resale market? We never found out about "renting" points or anything.

They contacted us with an offer to buy the points back at less than half of what we paid. We are contemplating doing so, because we can't seem to use them. Anyone have any thoughts? I was quite surprised they offered to buy them back. I know many people are unhappy with the program. Any ideas, thoughts or information would be helpful. We are "un-savvy" points owners.

Thank you.

Toomer, welcome to TUG and I'm sure the Mods will move your note to the Marriott Board, where you will find others with similar ownership that can provide advice and perspective.

We've discussed quite a bit how to best utilize the points and I think you will find them useful as a travel option. Because of the number of points you have, your satisfaction may depend on how much you use your existing weeks as normal weeks, versus redeeming them for travel (and combination with your Trust Points).

Many TUGgers have been happy with the new points program (and many have not) and renting points in and out has become a positive addition to their Marriott ownership.

I think it's interesting that they've offered to buy-back your points, do you mind telling us what they offered you (per point?)

Best,

Greg
