Today, when I was not at home, my spouse, after making a Hilton reservation for an upcoming convention over the phone, got an offer that he felt he couldn't refuse. :wall:

It's for something called "Hilton Select." I haven't seen this talked about before here, and I did a quick TUG search and couldn't find anything, either. (I will say the TUG search feature is not the most intuitive for stuff like this.) Does anyone here have any information about it? I just found a website that makes it seem like one of those fairly worthless "travel clubs" that gives you "discounts." There is no mention of what the ongoing costs are. The site does state that you can cancel the membership at any time.

They will be sending all the written detail/fine print in the mail within 7 days (I'm the fine print reader in the family.) We have 13 days to rescind.

The amount of $ is small ($240.) It would include 2 nights at one of the hotels in Orlando, *without a presentation required.* It also includes a $100 rebate for a Hilton stay within 6 months (that he would use for above mentioned reservation,) plus some Restaurant.com gift certificates. I think his idea would be to use the stuff and then cancel. I'm not so sure that there aren't more hidden costs, or an automatic monthly credit card draft involved.

Let me know if you've heard of this. We felt we got our $ worth out of a HGVC preview package we took advantage of last May. Not sure if this is a good a deal.

This is what I see: https://www.hiltonselect.com/enroll_options.php

It looks like the standard enrollment is $399 per year. Maybe they were offering a discount. I doubt you would be able to use the stay before you could cancel. There also may be restrictions on using the hotel stay.

Yes, a discount. I will be reading the fine print closely, and, if I don't get it in a timely manner, will rescind.

Just FYI, these are the same certificates they give out at timeshare presentations. They are valid for Hilton hotels only, so can't be used at Doubletree, Conrad, Garden Inn, etc. I was lucky that I had a stay at an actual Hilton planned and was eventually credited, but it was a long process.
