I don't think details are out yet. But when other airlines have changed policies before, they've used the booking date to determine if the new terms apply.
They'd be stupid not to. There are probably a bunch of people who don't factor in SWA's free baggage allowance when comparing airfares. It has to put them at a disadvantage.
Actually, I would think Southwest would be stupid to follow suit. If they're the last one left that doesn't charge the checked bag fee, that's a HUGE customer-friendly differentiation they can make between them and everyone else.
Sadly, after 12 years of exclusive loyalty to Jetblue, I just booked 2 domestic flights on Southwest and Delta. Found cheaper fare and I get a free checked bag.

I also agree. We drive 200 miles to get to an airport that Southwest flies from. We have an airport 20 miles from our house, but the savings for the three of us at two bags each, along with other reasons I really like Southwest, keeps us making the trek. Fortunately, I have an in on a free parking space nearby, so at worst I have a cab fee to get back to my car. Usually I can get a ride with a friend or family member.
