Been with Westgate Lakes 3.5 years and I have a value - floating week that I am not going to use this year. I would like to rent it, or just bank it and have two weeks next year. I sent a email on the owners site and based on previous dealings with Westgate I don't expect to get any customer service. I could type pages about Westgate but that would take too long and would not accomplish anything. I have accepted that I got screwed and now just trying to deal with timeshare ownership. Is it better to bank it with II? I have read a lot about II on tug and it is not good.

Any advice???

II won't get you much if anything

If SFX won't take it then look at Redweek or Trading Places. The last choice is II due to their overall poor performance and especially for a Westgate deposit as they are awash in them and they have very little trade value.

I see you already came to the obvious conclusion about the "value" of owning at Westgate. No fun, is it?

Value weeks do not get much value (no pun intended) when exchanging regardless of it being SFX, II or anybody else. Regardless of what others say, my event weeks (wks 6 & 7) keep getting me good exchanges regardless of the resort being Westgate Lakes trading thru II. I must caveat this with "providing one deposits early enough".

A value week is like a VW and an event week is like a Cadillac. Wasn't always that way. However it is now. Westgate now gives II any week it wants regardless of the week you own. Even though this appears to be the fact, I still keep getting good exchanges when I do decide to bank with II. My units happen to be large 4BR/4BA units which allow me to get a possible 3 weeks from the ownership of 1.

This is the order in which we use our Westgate Lakes timeshares---use them, rent what is left over and if not all rented then bank the remaining. It has served me well to date. However, if I owned a 1BR or 2BR instead, I am sure my feelings concerning timesharing might be different. Thius again is largely due to the type of Westgate resort timeshares I own.

There are varying opinions on Westgate Lakes. I can't comment on the other Westgate resorts as my experience has been solely with Westgate Lakes. When you go to Tripadvisor for instance, roughly 50% view the resort as great while the other 50% view it as the pits. Go figure?
